The invention relates to a fuel charging system having pressure pulsation damping. The fuel charging system includes a first side rail connected to a second side rail by a crossover tube. Defined within the crossover tube are first and second passageways; the first passageway including a restricted flow section therein.

Enhanced fuel pressure pulsation damping system with low flow restriction

A vehicle fuel rail system for fuel delivery and liquid fuel retainment therein. The vehicle fuel rail system comprises a fuel rail and a chassis connector in fluid communication with the fuel rail. The fuel rail has a first bank and a second bank connected to the first bank by way of a crossover line. The first bank has a first top portion and a first bottom portion and the second bank has a second top portion and a second bottom portion. The crossover line has a first end disposed at the first bottom portion and a second end disposed at the second top portion. The chassis connector has a tank end and an rail end wherein the tank end is connected to the vehicle fuel tank and the rail end is disposed at the first top portion.

Fuel pressure damper

A fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine having a molded plastic fuel rail with an electrical bus molded therein. The fuel rail has a keying feature which allows orientation of the fuel injector relative to the fuel rail when the fuel injector is inserted into the fuel rail. Further, a locking device is provided to lock the fuel injector to the fuel rail. Male electrical connectors on the fuel rail are formed by exposing a portion of the electrical bus. The fuel delivery system includes an electrical connector assembly for connecting the male connector of the fuel injector to the male connector of the fuel rail. Thus, when the fuel injector is inserted into the fuel rail, mechanical orientation and retention is achieved while at the same time an electrical connection is made.

Fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine

Fuel injector has combination valve-armature fabricated by laser welding relatively more magnetically permeable armature element to relatively less magnetically permeable valve element. Valve element contains sealing ring and landing ring, the latter being circumferentially discontinuous because of fuel passage holes through the valve element, the former being non-symmetrical so that magnetic opening force causes valve-armature to open by tilting about consistent circumferential location on valve element. Initial opening tilting motion is stopped by corrugated stop surface of annular stop member with final tilting motion occurring about the corrugated stop surface until the full perimeter of the valve element abuts the full perimeter of the corrugated stop surface. Actuator has bobbin-mounted coil inserted into frame and encapsulated by outer plastic body. Conical disk spring acting between fuel inlet tube and coil forces one end of the latter against valve body member while forming a barrier between fuel inlet tube and other end of coil so that plastic does not intrude into interior of mechanism during injection molding of outer plastic body. Object of invention is lower fabricating cost for specified performance of injector.

Fuel injector

The fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine delivers liquid fuel to electrically operated fuel injectors by means of an electric pump whose output pressure is regulated by control electronics which receives as feedback from a pressure sensor connected into a fuel delivery passage serving the injectors a signal representing the pressure differential between manifold absolute pressure (MAP) and absolute pumped fuel pressure. The pressure sensor has a movable wall that divides its interior into an intake manifold pressure sensing chamber space communicated to the engine intake manifold and a fuel pressure sensing chamber space communicated to the fuel delivery line to the injectors. A magnet is mounted on a central region of the movable wall to transmit a signal to a Hall-effect sensor mounted within the intake manifold pressure sensing chamber space. The feedback pressure signal is derived from the Hall-effect sensor sensing the position of the magnet, and hence that of the movable wall.
