The present disclosure describes a syringe assembly including a syringe including a Luer connection and a tip, a plunger, a tip cap, a tamper evident cap disposed over the tip cap, a film including a frangible connection, and an RFID tag. The film secures the tamper evident cap to the Luer connection, where the frangible connection can break under a force applied to the tamper evident cap such that the tamper evident cap disengages from the Luer connection when the frangible connection breaks. The RFID tag is disposed on the syringe and has an integrated circuit and an antenna configured to send/receive signals between an RFID reader.

In accordance with the principals of the present invention, a furnace unit adapted to be installed in-line with a fuel source of a furnace modulates natural gas or propane to reduce fuel consumption, minimize temperature overshoot, and reduce furnace short cycling. A modulator is contained with the furnace unit. The modulator is in gaseous communication with the in-line gas fuel source. A furnace sensor senses furnace criteria related to the operation of the furnace. A microcontroller receives from the furnace sensor furnace criteria and controls the modulator based on the furnace criteria. In a further aspect of the invention, an environmental sensor can be provided to sense environmental criteria related to the operation of the furnace. In a further aspect of the invention, a base unit in electrical communication with the furnace unit can be provided, the base unit determining energy consumption usage and savings. A syringe assembly includes a syringe and a tamper evident cap disposed over a Luer connection of the syringe, the tamper evident cap having a main body that defines a proximal end defining an opening, a distal end opposite the proximal end, an outer surface, and an inner surface opposite the outer surface that defines a passage to receive a tip cap and the Luer connection, where the tamper evident cap is spaced from the tip cap. The main body defines a frangible connection between the proximal and distal ends thereof. The frangible connection can break under a force applied to the distal end of the tamper evident cap such that the proximal end of the tamper evident cap remains engaged with the syringe when the frangible connection breaks. An RFID tag is disposed on the syringe and has an integrated circuit and an antenna configured to send/receive signals between an RFID reader.

A syringe assembly and methods of producing the syringe assembly are described. The syringe assembly may include a syringe body, a plunger rod, a barrel cover, and a tamper evident device. The syringe body has a chamber configured to receive a material. The plunger rod moves within the chamber to dispense the material. The barrel cover covers the syringe body. The backstop is attached to the barrel cover to prevent a portion of the plunger rod from moving proximally through the backstop. The tamper evident device includes a tamper evident cap covering a distal portion of the syringe body, a collar attached to the barrel cover, and a frangible connection between the tamper evident cap and the collar.

Devices and methods for use with syringes are disclosed. A plunger rod includes an outer housing having proximal and distal ends and a lumen between the ends, as well as an inner body axially slidable within the lumen between a first and second position. The inner body has a retention member extending therefrom. When the inner body is in the first position, the plunger rod has a first length, and, when the inner body is in the second position, the plunger rod has a second length greater than the first length. When the inner body is in the second position, the inner body is configured to be rotated relative to the outer housing until the retention member is received within the outer housing to preclude the inner body from moving in the axial direction.

A method for filling an aseptic pouch having the steps of: (a) providing a pouch, the pouch including a body having a plurality of panels coupled together to define a cavity, and, a spout providing ingress into the cavity, the spout having a plug sealingly engaged to the spout; (b) cleaning the external surfaces of the pouch with a cleaning preparation; (c) directing the spout and the plug into an aseptic zone, the aseptic zone having a supply of sterilized gas having a positive flow within the aseptic zone; (d) removing the plug; (e) filling the pouch with a flowable material; (f) replacing the plug on the spout to seal the cavity; (g) removing the spout and the plug from the aseptic zone; and (h) coupling the plug to a cap, and the cap to the spout, whereupon removal of the cap removes the plug, providing cavity access.
