Process for reducing the density of solid detergent ingredients by forming said ingredients into hollow-core particles. The density of ingredients such as sodium citrate, sodium carbonate and/or sodium silicate, when formed into such hollow-core particles, allows them to be stably incorporated into non-aqueous liquid laundry detergents.

Liquid detergent compositions with low-density particles

Non-aqueous liquid detergent compositions comprising from about 49% to about 99.95% by weight of the composition of a surfactant-containing non-aqueous liquid phase and from about 0.05% to about 51% by weight of the composition of a suspended solid particulate phase wherein the suspended solid particulate phase comprises water-soluble low-density particles which are composed of a binding agent and materials selected from the group consisting of an alkalinity source, a chelant, a builder and mixtures thereof. By the present invention, ingredients which are insoluble in the surfactant-rich liquid phase may be included in the liquid phase without undesirable segregation and separation.

Non-aqueous liquid detergents with water-soluble low-density particles

A process for making substantially anhydrous surfactant compositions which, at room temperature, are shear thinning non-Newtonian pastes with a yield point that allows them to be easily worked in commercial apparatus. The process employs hydrotropes, anionic surfactants and nonionic surfactants in a drying step to provide the pastes. The pastes are especially suitable for incorporation into anhydrous liquid detergent products.

Process for making detergent compositions with additives

A process for making substantially anhydrous structured surfactant compositions which, at room temperature, are shear thinning non-Newtonian pastes with a yield point that allows them to be easily worked in commercial apparatus. The process employs alkoxylated cationic structuring agents, anionic surfactants and organic solvents in a drying step to provide the pastes. The pastes are suitable for agglomeration with dry detergent powder to form granular detergent product and are especially suitable for incorporation into anhydrous liquid detergent products.
