An automated system displays enables a user to observe the activities in a system based on information in the display. From this display, the user can quickly identify the source of problems for the purpose of troubleshooting without the need to manually determine the source and nature of the problem. In this system, data about the system is gathered through a plurality of agents positioned throughout the network. This data is analyzed and a system monitor deployment configuration is developed. This monitor deployment information along with information about the various devices in the system and any relationships of devices in the system are imported to the display system. The display system then displays this information showing the present relationships of the devices in the system.

Method and system for importing an application and server map to a business systems manager display

Computer implemented method for determining an amount to bill a first owner of a first application executing in a computer, and a second owner of a second application executing in the computer. The computer receives a request from a remote client to transfer a file to the client. The file is shared by the first and second applications. The client made a prior request to the first application before making the request for the file. A determination is made that the request from the client to transfer the file should be billed to the first owner based on the client's prior request to the first application. The client made the prior request to the first application closer in time, than another prior request from the client to the second application, to the request to transfer the file.

Method to monitor amount of usage of applications in a server and their billing

Determining proportionate use of system resources by applications executing in a shared hosting environment, including executing monitor agents, one monitor agent for one or more instances of the applications, including collecting by the monitor agents data describing each instance of use of a system resource by an instance of the applications; storing by the monitor agents the collected data in data records, each data record representing a use of the system resources by a using instance of an application, the using instance comprising an instance of an application that uses a resource as represented by a data record; and storing by the monitor agents in the data records monitor tags, the monitor tags identifying each data record and identifying each using instance of an application for each data record.

Determining proportionate use of system resources by applications executing in a shared hosting environment

A system, method and program for troubleshooting a problem with an application. An application server which is supposed to be executing the application and a database or a server which manages the database are identified. The application, when executing, obtains data from the database to respond to a client request. The application server, database or database server, and a connection between the application server and the database or database server are generated and displayed or printed. Also, one or more hyperlinks to automatically send a hardware, software, or network status inquiry to the application server to test operability of the application server and/or a connection to the application server and automatically send a hardware, software, or network status inquiry to the database server to test operability of the database server and/or a connection to the database server are generated and displayed or printed. In accordance with a feature of the present invention, in response to a selection of the one or more hyperlinks, the application server and database server are automatically pinged. The invention also resides in a system and program for automatically identifying the database or database server by querying the application server, and generating and displaying or printing the diagram of the application server, database or database server, and a connection between the application server and the database or database server.
