Correction of errors within over-the-air signaling is contemplated. The error correction may include correcting over-the-air signaling used to facilitate transmitting content, broadcast television, etc. according to error correction data transmitted separately from the over-the-air signaling. A receiver may be configured to process the over-the-air signaling according to the error correction data so as to facilitate the contemplated error correction.

Correction of over-the-air signals

Adaptive prefix delegation that facilitates delegating prefixes from one device to another. The prefix delegation may be adaptively implemented to enable delegation router to make decision regarding characteristics of prefixes to be delegated. The adaptive prefix delegation may be automatically or dynamically preformed according to particularly operation capabilities of each delegating device.

Facilitating service discovery and other operations across multiple local links is contemplated. The service discovery may be beneficial for use within local area networks (LANs) or other suitable multi-link or multi-segment networks where one or more of the links operates service discovery according to link-local messaging/addressing constraints.

Service discovery within multi-link networks

An overlay network is contemplated. The overlay network may be characterized as supporting, or at least virtually supporting, separate networks over a common infrastructure. The common infrastructure may be comprised of a plurality of routers or other devices configured to facilitate directing messages according to various addressing requirements. The use of the separate networks may be dictated according to the particular addressing requirements of each message desired for transport.

Configuration of firewall functionality and/or determining positioning for routers operating within a multi-router network is contemplated. The firewall functionality configured for one or more of the routers may be based router positioning within the multi-router network. The firewall functionality may be automatically selected according to the router positioning in order to facilitate dynamic and/or adaptive router configuring.

Configuration of firewall functionality for routers operating within a multi-router network is contemplated. Configuration of tunnel, firewall and/or other positional based functionality for routers operating within a multi-router network is contemplated. The functionality configured for one or more of the routers may be implemented automatically without manual input or identification, such as to facilitate an off-the-shelf implementation process where positioning and attendant functionality is routinely implemented according to a predefined set of roles.

Assignment of directionality to interfaces, ports, receptacles, antennas and other input/output (I/O) employed by network devices to facilitate multi-device networking is contemplated. The directionality assignments may be used to facilitate assigning directionless and/or configurable router directionality in order to automatically, adaptively, dynamically or other otherwise facilitate inter-router connections within a multi-router network.

Interface directionality assignment

Translation of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) addresses is contemplated, such as for use in allowing IPv4 devices to connect with IPv6 device without requiring the IPv4 devices to specify the IPv6 address of the connected-to IPv6 device. The IPv6 addresses may be translated to IPv4 addresses suitable for use with the IPv4 devices in a manner that sufficiently compresses the IPv6 for use with the more bit limited nomenclature of an IPv4 address.

Internet protocol (IP) address translation

An architecture, such as but not necessarily limited to an architecture sufficient to facilitate service discovery within a network having two or more local area networks (LANs), is contemplated. The architecture may be employed in a router, gateway or other device configured to facilitate signaling between multiple routed networks, such as to facilitate service discovery across multiple routed networks.

mDNS-DNS architecture

Prefix delegation for Internet protocol (IP) prefixes or other types of prefixes. The prefix delegation resulting in multiple prefixes being delegated to internal routers and/or customer premise equipment (CPE) associated with a common link wherein at least two of the delegated prefixes are associated with different service providers.

Reverse prefix delegation

Address translation sufficient for use in translating addresses included in messages carried or otherwise transmitted between inside and outside network is contemplated. The contemplated address translation may facilitate operation of a network address translator (NAT), carrier grade network address translator (CGN), or other device similarly configured to facilitate translating inside addresses used to address messages carried over the inside network relative to outside addresses used to facilitate carrying messages over the outside network.

Network address translation

Network address translating is contemplated to be of a type where a network address translator (NAT), a carrier grade NAT (CGN), or other type of translator may facilitate reconstruction of translated addresses in a manner that ameliorates the amount of data that must be stored to facilitate the reconstruction.

Deterministic mapping

Network transmission of messages is contemplated. The contemplated transmission may be facilitated with a selectable one or more interfaces. The interfaces may be included as part of a gateway or other device tasked with facilitating network communications, such as but not limited to a gateway tasked with facilitate network transmissions between device connected to a home network and devices connected beyond the home network.
