There is provided a wireless portable device for providing location-based data to a user in a defined geographical area including a plurality of points of interest, the wireless portable device comprising a wireless transmitter, a wireless receiver, and a display. The wireless transmitter can transmit location information to a wireless server over a wireless network. The wireless receiver can receive location-based data relating to a point of interest from the wireless server periodically and automatically, based on the location of the wireless portable device. By optimizing map routes and schedules using the location-based data and user preferences including wish lists, the wireless portable device can provide helpful recommendations via the display, enabling the user to plan an efficient schedule of activities in the defined geographical area optimized by walking distance, queue wait times, booking and arriving at reserved events, and/or by other user preferences.

System and method for providing location-based data on a wireless portable device

A system for providing an interactive experience for multiple game-players. The experience is provided in a light-controlled setting where the game-players may wear or hold one or more of various toys (e.g., gloves). The system detects and recognizes the toy along with gestures and pointing efforts performed by the game-player and the system generates an effect based on the type of toy and the type of gesture. The system also generates one or more visual targets that are visible to the game-player such as projections, holograms, and displays of one or more of various fantasy virtual adversaries. The generated effects may include any combination of sensory effects including visual, audio, tactile, and smell/taste. The generated effect may be directed based on the pointing efforts of the game-player. The system may then register the effect on the target, if the pointing efforts intersect with the virtual location of the target.

Location-based experience with interactive merchandise

There is provided a system and method for generation of vision recognition references from user-selected content. The method comprises receiving data corresponding to a user selected content, generating a vision recognition reference from the data, associating a game behavior descriptor with the vision recognition reference, wherein the game behavior descriptor correspond to a game behavior instance, and storing the vision recognition reference and the associated game behavior descriptor in a database, wherein the database includes a plurality of pre-defined vision recognition references, and wherein each of the plurality of pre-defined vision recognition references correspond to at least one pre-defined game behavior descriptor. The method may further comprise receiving user input corresponding to the user-selected content, retrieving the vision recognition reference and the associated game behavior descriptor from the database and initiating the game behavior in a corresponding game.

Generation of vision recognition references from user selected content

Systems and associated methods for capturing media content for a plurality of guests and intelligently parsing the media content to produce a customized/personalized media product for a particular guest or group of guests are described. A system is configured for combining video data and position tracking data to record a group guest experience or show and automatically provide custom media products. Embodiments record a plurality of guests throughout an experience or show, and simultaneously position track each guest individually. Embodiments utilize the tracking data to extract a sub-sampled video of each guest. This sub-sampled video is combined with additional media automatically according to a script. The result is a personalized video take-away for each guest, which can be created entirely without human intervention.

Automated personalized imaging system

A process, computer program product, and apparatus provide for a contextual media presentation. The process, computer program product, and apparatus receive a plurality of planned and/or completed user experiences. Further, the process, computer program product, and apparatus select a plurality of media files that are contextually relevant to the received user experiences. In addition, the process, computer program product, and apparatus sort a list of the plurality of media files to generate a sorted list of media files. The process, computer program product, and apparatus send the sorted list of media files to a player for playback.

Contextual media presentation

A method for managing distribution of entitlements, such as personalized or enhanced experiences at a destination such a theme park. The method includes receiving a request for experience state management from an experience system that defines an experience provided by the experience system and identifies a single or multiple visitors. The method includes accessing an experience state associated with the identified visitors. The experience state defines experiences the visitor is entitled to receive and a ranked or prioritized listing of these experiences. The method includes responding to the experience system indicating whether the visitor is eligible to receive the defined experience based on their experience state and, when there are two or more eligible visitors, arbitrating amount the members of this eligible group. A feedback loop causes the experience states to be updated to modify the prioritized listings and to update an experience history for use in later arbitrations.

Managing experience state to personalize destination visits

There is provided a system comprising a venue including a mapped physical space; a venue management system configured to control real events occurring within the venue; a transporter designed to transport at least one occupant through the mapped physical space along a known path, the transporter configured to move through the mapped physical space under the control of the venue management system; an augmented reality experience server including a virtual venue generator in communication with the venue management system, the virtual venue generator for producing a virtual venue having a virtual representation of the mapped physical space including virtual events and real events occurring within the venue; the augmented reality experience server configured to provide the at least one occupant of the transporter with an augmented sensory perspective including a selective combination of the real events occurring in the venue and the virtual events produced by the virtual venue generator.

System and method for providing an augmented reality experience

There is provided a system and method for counting riders arbitrarily positioned in a vehicle. There is provided a method comprising receiving, from at least one camera filtered to capture non-visible light, video data corresponding to the vehicle passing through a light source filtered for non-visible light, converting the video data into a 3D height map, and analyzing the 3D height map to determine a number of riders in the vehicle. The camera and light source may be mounted in a permanent position using a gantry or another suitable system where the vehicle travels across the camera and light system in a determined manner, for example through a vehicle track. Multiple cameras may be used to increase detection accuracy. To detect persons in the 3D height map, the analysis may search for height patterns indicating heads and shoulders of persons, compare against height map templates, or use machine-learning methods.

Counting system for vehicle riders

There is provided a wireless portable device for providing location-based data to a user in a defined geographical area including a plurality of points of interest, the wireless portable device comprising a wireless transmitter, a wireless receiver, and an expansion bay with an attached expansion cartridge. The wireless transmitter can transmit location information to a wireless server over a wireless network. The wireless receiver can receive location-based data relating to a point of interest from the wireless server periodically and automatically, based on the location of the wireless portable device. The expansion cartridge can receive location-based data while the wireless portable device is in a low power sleep state. There is also provided a method for a wireless server to provide location-based data to a wireless portable device after a pre-determined period of time, including an interactive game relating to a point of interest.

Disclosed are systems and methods for providing a real-time interactive surface. In one embodiment, such a system comprises an activity surface for use as a venue for an interactive experience, and an interactive experience control unit including an events management application. The events management application is configured to monitor and coordinate events occurring during the interactive experience. The system also comprises a surface rendering application interactively linked to the events management application, the surface rendering application configured to render a visual image for display at the activity surface in real-time, the visual image corresponding to one or more visual assets associated with a subset of the events occurring during the interactive experience. The system further comprises a surface display module interactively linked to the surface rendering application, the surface display module configured to display the rendered real-time visual image at the activity surface to provide the real-time interactive surface.

System and method for providing a real-time interactive surface

There is provided a method of enabling a consumer of a media content to communicate with a producer of the media content, comprising receiving an originating message concerning the media content from the consumer, assigning metadata to the originating message based on the media content or the content of the originating message, determining the producer based on the media content or the content of the originating message, forwarding the originating message through a message support network for distribution to the producer, retrieving a responsive message provided by the producer from among message updates stored on a message database, and associating the responsive message with one or more content subsets of the content according to the metadata assigned to the originating message. In one embodiment, media content and instructions comprising an interactive communication control application are stored on a computer readable medium.
