The present invention is generally directed to artificial intelligence (AI) systems and materials. In particular, the invention relates to human-like AI that utilizes a symbolic thinking engine to create explanatory theories. Such theories are based on an iterative process that adjusts for available information, context, and/or perspective, and can be created based on sparse information. The invention then iterates to return a useful result that can also be predictive. In one or more embodiments, the present invention is modular and scalable, enabling the addition of multiple domains that collaborate in parallel, similar to how the human mind/brain is believed to work.

Systems and methods for artificial intelligence—and machine learning-based evaluations and explanations of problems

Reduced noise abrasive blasting assemblies and systems are described. The new assemblies and systems are comprised of standard blast hose, accelerator hose, couplings and nozzle. The improved abrasive blasting system maintains abrasive particle velocity while decreasing the exit gas velocity and consequently decreasing sound production. This is accomplished through an acceleration section with reduced inner diameter and sufficient length to provide the necessary abrasive particle velocity. The new system maintains the productivity and efficiency of conventional abrasive blasting systems but with greatly reduced acoustic noise production and reduces operator fatigue due to the lower weight of the carried portion of the system.

The present invention is generally directed to systems and methods for preparing and producing a custom-fitted face mask, including, as non-limiting examples, a CPAP nasal mask and a CPAP full face mask. At least one embodiment of the invention utilizes infrared (IR) lasers, such as, for example, those found on smartphone cameras, in order to generate a 3D point cloud model of an individual's face. This point cloud model is then used to produce a custom face mask cushion, which is used to customize a generic face mask to conform to the user's specific facial geometry.

A new asynchronous localization method for a network of nodes and transmitters, the position of at least one of the nodes and/or transmitters being known, involves receiving a first signal directly from a first transmitter at a first node of a first node pair, receiving the first signal relayed from a second node of the first node pair at the first node, and determining the delay at the first node between the direct and relayed first signal by comparing the direct and relayed first signals. This may be repeated with the first node acting as relay to determine the delay at the second node. Time difference of arrival and/or time of flight between first and second nodes may be determined using the determined delay at the first and/or second node and/or known node locations. The process is repeated for additional transmitters/node pairs until sufficient information is determined for desired applications.

A shock consolidation material manufacturing method involves combining a nanoscale additive and ceramic nanoparticles to create a nano-powder, compacting the nano-powder mechanically, and performing shock-wave consolidation on the compacted nano-powder. The ceramic nanoparticles may be Yttria-stabilized tetragonal Zirconia (YSZ) or Samarium doped Ceria (SDC). The nanopowder may be CNT-YSZ or SDC-NaCO. The shock-wave consolidation may be performed with a laser, and may involve positioning the nano-powder on a support material, placing an ablative layer over the support material and nano-powder, placing a transparent re-usable capping layer over the ablative layer, and directing laser energy at the capping layer, turning an area of the ablative layer below the capping layer into plasma and generating shock waves through the nano-powder and support material.

A real-time in-situ sensor system is provided for measurement of bioluminescence and determination of bioluminescence surface signature. The system measures bioluminescence in the wake of a submerged moving object as well as ambient light levels outside of the wake. Along with measurements of depth and water-quality parameters including turbidity, temperature and salinity, the surface signature of the induced underwater bioluminescence can be calculated by considering light transmission and attenuation through water. With this real-time information, the operator of the submerged moving object can employ tactical maneuvers to affect the resultant surface signature.

A method for achieving optimum coaxial lidar configuration using optical fibers. Optical fibers are used with mirrors or lenses to create light paths that can achieve an optimum lidar configuration while employing fewer components than that of prior art for a more simplified, lightweight, and less expensive system to produce. The lidar components, including the laser source and the light detector unit, may be placed in a separate housing. A separate housing eliminates unnecessary weight in the optical telescope assembly, makes scanning of the system easier, and enables a better omni-directional cloud height indicator.
