A multi-color photographic silver halide element has a total gelatin level on the imaging side of the support is less than 9000 mg/m, and bulk gelatin-to-junk weight ratio for all of the light sensitive layers on the imaging side of the support is greater than 1.5. This weight ratio is defined by:Bulk gelatin-to-junk ratio=[()+()+()]&#xf7;()wherein Bis the total gelatin level for blue light sensitive layers, Bis the gelatin-to-junk ratio for blue light sensitive layers, Ris the total gelatin level for red light sensitive layers, Ris the gelatin-to-junk ratio for red light sensitive layers, Gis the total gelatin level for green light sensitive layers, and Gis the gelatin-to-junk ratio for green light sensitive layers. The imaging layers can be thinned without undesirable loss in sensitometric properties and in increase in dust and dirt generation while providing reduced material costs and improving development properties.

A photographic imaging element is disclosed comprising a support having on a front side thereof a silver halide imaging layer and an outermost protective overcoat layer comprising a film-forming binder, and on the backside thereof an outermost protective backcoat layer comprising a film-forming binder; the protective overcoat and backcoat layers each comprising a lubricant present in an amount of at least 5 mg/mand permanent matting agent having a Tof at least 40&#xb0; C. and an average particle size of from about 0.5 to about 3 micrometers in an amount of at least 1 mg/m; and at least one of the protective overcoat layer or the protective backcoat layer further comprising crosslinked elastomeric polymer matte particles, wherein the crosslinked elastomeric polymer matte particles have a Tof 20&#xb0; C. or less, an average particle size of at least 90% of or greater than that of the permanent matting agent particles having a Tof at least 40&#xb0; C. in the protective layer in which the crosslinked elastomeric matte is included, and are present in the protective overcoat layer or protective backcoat layer in an amount which is (i) at least 1 mg/mand (ii) less than the total level of permanent matting agent particles having a Tof at least 40&#xb0; C. in the protective overcoat and backcoat layers combined. Imaging elements comprising highly lubricated protective outermost layers in accordance with the invention advantageously provide increased scratch and wear resistance, while the presence of relatively low Tcrosslinked elastomeric matte particles in combination with higher Tpermanent matte particles has been found to increase the coefficient of friction of the layer in which they are included to provide good manufacturability of the imaging element while also maintaining wear and other desired film performance properties.

Highly lubricated imaging element with elastomeric matte

A silver halide light sensitive photographic print element is disclosed comprising a support bearing on one side thereof: a blue color sensitive record comprising at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion yellow-image forming layer, a red color sensitive record comprising at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion cyan-image forming layer, and a green color sensitive record comprising at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion magenta-image forming layer; wherein the overall contrast (OC) of the green record is greater than 1.7, the mid-scale contrast (MSC) of the green record is less than 2.6, and the upper-scale contrast (USC) of the green record is from 2.85 to 3.15, wherein the parameters OC, MSC and USC are as defined herein. Color print film silver halide photographic elements in accordance with the invention enable the production of outstanding projected images having improved flesh tone and shadow detail reproduction, and sufficiently high black densities.

Color motion picture print film with improved tonescale

A motion picture film photographic element is disclosed comprising a support having on a front side thereof a subbing layer unit and one or more image-forming units comprising at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer coated over the subbing layer unit, wherein the layers coated on the front side of the support comprise in total from 5 to 30 mg/m,of dispersed carbon particles, and the majority of the dispersed carbon particles is contained in the emulsion layer or layers of the one or more image forming units or in intercoat layers which may be present between two emulsion layers. The motion picture photographic film clement provides improved performance when marked by means of a laser beam.
