A method of performing aspects of an energy industry operation includes receiving input data at a processing system, the input data describing an assembly for performing the energy industry operation and properties of the formation, the assembly including a downhole component, the processing system configured to estimate production properties based on mathematical models including at least a model of the downhole component and one or more models for simulating fluid flow in the formation. The method also includes, based on the input data, generating a workflow that includes steps for estimating production properties using the models, receiving a selection from a user specifying a type of analysis to be performed and/or a level of complexity of analysis to be performed, customizing the workflow based on the user selection, estimating the production properties based on the models, where estimating is performed according to a procedure specified by the workflow.

Integrated modeling and simulation of formation and well performance

A method of performing aspects of an energy industry operation includes simulating an energy industry operation parameter by an analysis module, wherein simulating includes predicting values of the operational parameter via one or more mathematical models of the assembly and a formation region, and estimating an uncertainty range of at least one of the input data and the predicted values of the operational parameter; generating a performance envelope based on the predicted values and the uncertainty range; generating an operating envelope by the analysis module, the operating envelope prescribing minimum constraints on the operational parameter; during the energy industry operation, receiving real time measurements of the operational parameter by a production performance module, and comparing the measured operational parameter to the operating envelope and the performance envelope; and based on the measured operational parameter being outside the performance envelope, controlling the energy industry operation to adjust the operational parameter.

Integrated modeling and monitoring of formation and well performance

A method for tracking N fluid materials and their associated interfaces during simulated fluid flow is disclosed. A microgrid cell methodology is embedded on a regular macrogrid to subdivide and then tag fluid materials in a computational system preferably using a prime numbering algorithm. The motion of microgrid cells is tracked based on local velocity conditions, rectifying small anomalies by a coupled evaluation of local volume fraction fields and global mass conservation. Volume fractions can be calculated at any time step via an evaluation of the prime locations so that average cellular density and viscosity values can be regularly updated.

N-phase interface tracking method utilizing unique enumeration of microgrid cells

An apparatus comprising multiple heating, cooling, and/or cleaning zones. The apparatus produces a jet flow of solvent/cleaning fluid onto an article to be cleaned without the need for a pump or compressor. The jet flow provides more effective contaminant removal. The multiple zones result in increased residence time for increased efficiency in separating the solubilized contaminant from the solvent/cleaning fluid.

Apparatus for contaminant removal using natural convection flow and changes in solubility concentrations by temperature

Apparatus and methods are described for removing contaminants from an article using a supercritical or near supercritical solvent fluid held at substantially constant pressure in a pressure vessel. The article to be cleaned is first contacted with a solvent fluid in which the contaminant is soluble at a first supercritical or near-supercritical temperature. The contaminant-containing fluid is then cooled or heated to a second supercritical or near supercritical temperature to lower the solubility of the contaminant in the supercritical fluid and thereby precipitate or phase separate the contaminant. The contaminant is then recovered. Movement of the solvent fluid within the pressure vessel is preferably by convection induced by heating and cooling means in the vessel.
