An automotive drive system includes a transmission comprising a plurality of gears, an electric motor having a rotor and being coupled to the transmission such that operation of the electric motor causes actuation of the gears, and a sensor assembly coupled to and located on the exterior of at least one of the transmission and the electric motor, the sensor assembly being configured to detect movement of at least one of the rotor and the plurality of gears and generate a signal representative thereof.

A motor resolver assembly includes a resolver stator and a resolver rotor positioned radially inward of and rotatable with respect to the resolver stator. First and second relatively rotatable shield components generally surround the resolver stator and rotor to shield them from electromagnetic energy from a radially outward motor rotor and motor stator. The present invention relates to a torsional damper for an electrically-variable transmission. The torsional damper is equipped with a hydraulically actuable lock-out clutch to directly couple the engine to the input shaft of the transmission. The electric motors provided with the electrically-variable transmission can serve to effectively cancel out engine compression pulses when the springs of the torsional damper are locked out. When the engine is off and the torsional damper assembly is in use, an auxiliary pump is provided to pump oil to the torsional damper assembly. The lock-out clutch is hydraulically balanced by the oil supplied by the auxiliary pump. The pump is strategically mounted to the transmission housing in a manner to minimize the distance between the auxiliary pump and the transmission without affecting any vehicle ground clearance requirements.

A switch device for assembly with a fastener securing an access cover to a high voltage storage device includes a switch connector device connectable to a shroud. The switch connector includes a flange with a bolt hole through which a fastener passes and a first connector having a shorting bar. The shroud includes a second connector with first and second wire cables, mateable to the first connector. The switch device has open and closed positions. In closed position, the shroud is mated to the switch connector device, and conducts electrical signals between the first and second wire cables. The shroud substantially completely obstructs operative access to the fastener. In open position, the shroud is sufficiently unmated from the switch connector device to permit operative tool access to the fastener. The first connector is disconnected from the second connector when in the open position.
