A method for recommending an action to a user of a user device includes receiving first user action data corresponding to a first user action and receiving second user action data corresponding to a second user action. The method also includes generating, based on the first user action data and the second user action data and using a feedforward artificial neural network, a recommendation for a next user action. The method also includes causing the recommendation for the next user action to be communicated to the user device.

A first page collection archive of user interface pages of a first software application program and a second page collection archive of user interface pages of a second software application program are stored in a repository of a data processing system. A processor generates a first difference file including user interface pages within a current collection of user interface pages that are not included within the first page collection archive, and further generates a second difference file including user interface pages within a current collection of user interface pages that are not included within the second page collection archive. In a computing network containing multiple computing devices, a network card in a computing device provides the ability for the computing device to transmit specific types of information while the computing device is in an inactive state. The network card contains processing capabilities that enable it to detect and receive an inquiry directed to that device, process the inquiry, retrieve the requested data which is stored in the network card and transmit that information to the requestor. The ability of the network card to perform this enables system administrators to perform certain system maintenance functions while a computer may be in a power off or hibernate state instead if having to power on the computing device.

An approach to handling dynamic information selection based on associated is presented. A user configures a plurality of endnotes in order to assign one of the endnotes to a recipient address. The illustrative embodiments provide a mechanism by which the presence of a real world object is detected and, while the real world object's presence continues to be detected, it is made available for use in a virtual environment. The detection of the real world object provides an identifier of the object which is correlated with information regarding how to represent the object in the virtual environment, how the object may be utilized in relation to other objects in the virtual environment such that the real world object is modeled in the virtual environment, and the like. The detection of multiple real world objects may be performed and identification of each of the multiple objects may be used to determine how these objects may be utilized together in the virtual environment.

Persistent authenticating mechanism to map real world object presence into virtual world object awareness

A method and system for providing enhanced display capability for mobile phones and handheld devices, such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), when such devices are within range of external display devices equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and display data receivers. The mobile phone searches for RFID tag-equipped external display devices, and upon locating such a device sends a request to the external device for connection and configuration information. Once the connection and configuration information from the external display device is received by the mobile phone or handheld device, a process of automatic synchronization between the mobile phone and the external display device occurs. The output images of the mobile phone are then transmitted to the external display device, which includes the functionality or mechanisms to receive and regenerate the output images.

The present invention provides a method, apparatus, and computer instructions for automatic e-mail response interruption based on user activity. An e-mail message having an 'interrupt' type designation is sent from an originator, and directed to one or more recipients. The receiving e-mail client filters incoming messages and determines whether an e-mail contains an interrupt designation. If an interrupt designation is found, the e-mail client automatically displays content of the interrupt e-mail and any pending actions required of the recipient in a forefront position in the user interface, such as through a popup window. This content display may be valid until the recipient has responded to or completes the pending action specified in the e-mail. The present invention also analyzes the sender-recipient relationship to determine if the sender has the authority to issue an interrupt e-mail to the particular recipient. This authority may be predicated on user settings or an external list, such as a corporate directory.

A method is presented for employing radio frequency (RF) identifier (ID) transponder tags (RFID tags) to create a unique identifier, termed an RFID signature, for use within a data processing system with respect to a person or an object. An interrogation signal is transmitted toward a person or an object with which a set of one or more RFID tags are physically associated. A first set of RFID tag identifiers are obtained from an interrogation response signal or signals returned from the set of one or more RFID tags. A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for managing unwanted email messages in a data processing system. An interface is provided for a user to select members of a reviewing group of users. Input is collected from each member of the reviewing group of users as to whether a particular email message is an unwanted email message. A filter is constructed from a collective input of the reviewing group of users for a user. The filter contains input from a set of users of the reviewing group of users, wherein the set of users is selected by the user. Incoming email messages are filtered using the filter. A selected email message identified by one member in the reviewing group of users is unforwarded to the user.
