In some embodiments, this includes backing up an object to a repository, segmenting the object into a plurality of sub-objects, and assigning a priority to a sub-object. Segmenting the object may include segmenting the object based on file access patterns. Assigning a priority may include assigning a high priority based on file access patterns, or based on policy, among others.

In some embodiments, this includes selecting an object to be recovered, recovering sub-objects of the object based on the priorities assigned to the sub-objects, and reprioritizing the sub-objects based on an application's I/O during recovery.
