There is provided an aircraft seat cubicle that has a seat convertible to a bed, a foot rest or ottoman, a table and a light, each movable lengthways of the cubicle. One of the items of furniture is received on a track. The item of furniture can be driven towards or away from the seat via a pulley, a cable, and a drive motor. A tension spring in the run of the cable stretches and releases its tension in order to allow the cable to slip on a capstan at one end of the track for driven movement of the furniture.

Movable seat

An aircraft seat has a chassis (), fixed to a pallet which is fixed to the floor of the aircraft. The chassis has two load bearing sides () and opposite ends (). Fixed along the top edge of the sides () and facing outwards are pins () supporting bearing wheels (). These on each side engage with a rectangular S form interconnection beam () having an inside groove () for receiving these wheels. On the outside, the beam has another groove () receiving similar wheels (), on pins () fixed to the inside of side plates () of a sub-frame (), these side plates being interconnected by front and rear beams (). Thus the sub-frame can move back and forth, with the wheels acting as rolling element bearings. The beams move half the distance of the sub-frame, in analogous manner to the bearing of filing cabinet drawers.

Aircraft seat

An aircraft seat having a movable squab and backrest, and a fixed seat chassis is presented. A mechanism for moving the squab and backrest has a linear runner mounted on the seat chassis and includes a linear drive for extending (and retracting) the assembly between a retracted position and an extended position. A first cam track allows adjustment the height of the back edge of the seat squab, the first cam track being generally parallel to the linear runner through the majority of its length and having a rearmost substantially vertical portion. A first cam follower mechanism interconnects a back edge of the seat squab, the first cam track and the linear drive, for motion of the seal squab. A second cam track is provided for adjusting the inclination of the backrest and a second follower is connected to the seatback.

A novel orientation for a plurality of transport seats within a vehicle, generally consisting of a first seat facing in a first direction, and a second seat facing an opposing direction such that the lateral width of the combined seats is substantially less than in prior art examples. Specific seats and reclining orientations are also disclosed including seats having a unitary structure. A visual barrier is also disclosed, substantially disposed between the first and the second seat to provide a visual barrier between a user in a first seat and a user in a second seat.

Transport seating

A child restraint apparatus relates to holding a child within a vehicle interior. The apparatus has a body with an internal area for receiving a child. An energy absorbing member extends in use over at least part of an external surface of the body. This energy absorbing member faces away from the internal area.
