The input video signal and/or audio signal is high compressed and stored and it also is low compressed and stored. The high-compressed storied video signal is used to form an editing execution order list which includes an execution order for editing the low-compressed signal.

Signal processor and signal processing method

An editing apparatus is disclosed. This editing apparatus reproduces a video signal recorded in a tape-like recording medium and repetitively records the video signal on a predetermined repetitive recording area of a disk-like recording medium until a recording starting point is designated. Then, when the recording starting point is designated, the video signal is sequentially recorded on a predetermined normal recording area of the disk-like recording medium when the recording starting point is designated. When a recording ending point is designated, the video signal is recorded on the normal recording area during a predetermined period, whereafter the video signal is repetitively recorded on a second predetermined repetitive recording area of the disk-like recording medium.

Editing apparatus and editing method

Method and apparatus for editing a plurality of coded communication signals stored on a recording medium by designating for editing a first set of signals, designating from among the remaining signals a second set of signals that include additional information needed to decode the first set of signals, and reproducing from the recording medium the first set of signals and the second set of signals to facilitate proper decoding and editing of the first set of signals.
