A delivery system extends from a laser radiation source for connecting to a medical device that utilizes the laser radiation for medical treatment. The delivery system comprises an optical fiber connecting to a male launch connecter. The male launch connector having a body portion with the optical fiber fixed or constrained therein and the optical fiber terminating at a male ferrule with a forward directed fiber facet, the male ferrule may be cantilevered within the body portion by the optical fiber line providing freedom of movement of the male ferrule. The launch connector engages a receiving connector on the medical device first with mechanical connection portions and then more finely aligning optical connection portions by the male ferrule self aligning in a female ferrule with cooperating tapered surfaces. The male portion may fully seat in the female portion with cooperating cylindrical surfaces.

Optical fiber cable connector

A laser light energy coupling with a male launch connecter. The male launch connector having a body portion with the fiber optic line terminating at an optical connection component including a male ferrule. The optical connection component being elongate and generally cylindrical with a central circumferential band. The body portion defining a cavity form fit and spaced about the optical connection component. An elastomeric support engaging the optical connection portion provides compliancy when the coupling is made and provides centration before the coupling is made. The elastomeric support positioned rearward of the optical connection component. The elastomeric support may clamp the fiber optic line therein. A forward facing annular surface displaced rearwardly of a forwardmost portion of the male ferrule provides a stop surface when the coupling is made and provides heat transfer means to dissipate heat from the male ferrule through into a receiving coupling.

The male portion may fully seat in the female portion with cooperating cylindrical surfaces.

A method and apparatus are provided for treating connective tissue. The method and apparatus includes elongating connective tissue including septa and/or fascia to achieve a lasting improvement (e.g., a long term, durable and/or substantially irreversible treatment of the connective tissue) to improve the appearance of cellulite.

Methods and systems are disclosed for phototreatment in which replaceable containers comprising one or more adjuvant (consumable or re-useable) substances are employed. The adjuvant substance can be, for example, a topical substance or a coolant. A ring chuck that holds a wafer with a vacuum uses a vacuum trough that contacts the entire outer edge of the wafer. The chuck has a base having a top surface equal to or slightly smaller than a water to be tested with vacuum channels in the base. The base provides the mechanism to connect the chuck to a measurement instrument and a vacuum source. An annulus of non-contaminant material that has concentric rings extending upward from its outer edge is fixed to the base top surface with the trough between the concentric rings connected to the vacuum channels. The vacuum trough holds the wafer securely to the chuck and minimizes vibrations when the wafer is rotated.

A ring chuck that holds a wafer with a vacuum uses a vacuum trough that contacts the entire outer edge of the wafer. The chuck has a base having a top surface equal to or slightly smaller than a wafer to be tested with vacuum channels in the base. The base provides the mechanism to connect the chuck to a measurement instrument and a vacuum source. An annulus of non-contaminant material that has a plurality of concentric rings extending upward from its outer edge is fixed to the base top surface with the trough between the concentric rings connected to the vacuum channels. The vacuum trough holds the wafer securely to the chuck and minimizes vibrations when the wafer is rotated. When the plurality of concentric rings are contained within the wafer exclusion band, the print through onto the tested area is minimized. The tops of the concentric rings are minimally elevated from the top surface of the base and form a sealed volume that supports the interior portion of the wafer. The tops are also made very narrow to allow small deformations, minimize contamination of the wafer and restrict the transfer of particles between the chuck and the wafer. In addition, the narrow rings limit the number of particles already on the backside of the wafer that are forced onto the wafer. The consistent support provided by the ring chuck simplifies modeling of the chuck/wafer system under rotation, improving the ability to remove the instrument signature from measurements.
