An attachment is described that is configured for attachment to an arm of a piece of heavy construction equipment. The attachment is configured to rotate a section of pipe during break out (i.e. disconnection or disassembly) from another section of pipe and/or make up (i.e. connection or assembly) with another section of pipe. The attachment is configured to break the joint or torque the joint to a predetermined torque value, unthread or thread pipe, and lift the pipe under the power of the heavy construction equipment.

A cart for filling intermodal shipping containers with a bulk particulate material, such as grain, includes a hopper to receive the bulk material and a belt conveyor to deliver the material to the container. The conveyor is positioned external of the container and throws the material along an arcuate path to the opposite end of the container whereby the container is substantially filled without the need to extend the conveyor into the container. The cart is supported on wheels to be moved where needed. The cart can straddle a standard truck trailer carrying a container so that the container need not be removed from the trailer for filling. The conveyor height is variable to reach a container on a truck trailer or on the ground. The cart width can also be reduced for road transport.

A cartridge for storing pipe lengths on a horizontal directional drill that allows easy loading and unloading of pipes from the cartridge while it is attached to the drill. Longitudinal support members and towers at each end of the cartridge provide structural support to the cartridge and maintain the pipe lengths within the cartridge. The sides of the cartridge are open and unobstructed. Loading and unloading of pipes can, therefore, be done through the sides of the cartridge.

A mobile truck crane having an elongated main frame that forms the carriage for the crane as well as forming a fore and aft elongated outrigger for stabilization in the crane operative position. A pair of transversely swingable outriggers are attached intermediate the length of the main frame and act to stabilize the crane in transverse directions. The main frame is formed of rectangular tubular cross section and is of such shape as to have a high strength-to-weight ratio and which is particularly rigid and capable of transmitting high, concentrated loads in an efficient manner from a revolvable upper that includes a telescoping boom. The main frame includes an intermediate tub which is fabricated to transmit loads from the upper superstructure to all four outriggers of the main frame. The crane finds particularly utility when used as a mobile truck crane of the self-propelled type in which the power source is located on the upper, revolvable superstructure and which provides power through a right angle drive downwardly through the tub and to a power transmission located at the underside of the main frame for furnishing driving power to the ground engaging wheels. The superstructure of the crane includes a cantilevered framework overhanging one side of the superstructure and on which are mounted essential parts of the crane, such as the engine, air and fuel tanks, compressor, winches, and conventional counterweights are not required for counterbalancing the telescoping boom which extends from a side of the superstructure opposite that of the cantilevered framework.

An electro-hydraulic control system to enable either simultaneous extension or retraction of all boom sections in a telescopic crane boom or independent extension or retraction of one or more individual boom sections comprises a valve assembly, including solenoid-operated extend and retract valves, on each boom section cylinder; a manually operable three-position (neutral, extend, retract) main control valve for connecting the valve assemblies to a pressurized fluid source and to a reservoir; a relay for energizing all solenoid valves simultaneously when the main control valve is operated to extend or retract positions to thereby effect simultaneous extension or retraction, respectively, of all boom sections; and manually actuatable selector switches, one for each movable boom section, which, when any one selector switch is actuated while the main valve is operated, override the relay and energize only the solenoid valves in a selected valve assembly thereby enabling independent extension or retraction of a selected boom section.
