Glass fibers have a chemical composition that includes the following constituents, in a weight content that varies within the limits defined below: SiO50-70%, AlO0-5%, CaO+MgO 0-7%, NaO 5-15%, KO 0-10%, BaO 2-10%, SrO 2-10%, ZnO &#x3c;2%, and BO5-15%.

Glass fibers

Mineral fibers have a chemical composition including the following constituents, as weight percentages: SiO30% to 50%, AlO10% to 20%, CaO+MgO 20% to 35%, NaO+KO 1% to 10%, wherein the mineral fibers include a content of total iron, expressed as FeO, of from 5% to 15% and a redox, which corresponds to the weight ratio between the content of ferrous iron, expressed as FeO, and the total content of iron, expressed as FeO, of less than 0.6.

Mineral fibers

An internal combustion burner including a combustion chamber supplied with fuel and with oxidant and at least two combustion devices supplied with oxidant and with fuel. Combining two combustion devices of distinct configurations, which respectively generate two distinct types of flames with a system for cooling the walls of the burner by introducing air along the walls, makes it possible to obtain a burner that supplies a combustion gas temperature of up to 1700&#xb0; C., while at the same time being easily cooled and occupying very little space so that it can, for example, be housed in an existing installation used in the manufacture of rock wool or glass wool.

Internal combustion burner

The invention concerns a method for detecting localized defects, such as hot spots or wet spots, present in a mat of mineral fibers bonded by a binder, including using a microwave radiation of frequency ranging between 1 and 50 GHz, preferably between 5 and 10 GHz, the total power of the emitted electromagnetic wave ranging between 0.1 and 5 watts, preferably of the order of 1 watt. The invention also concerns a device for implementing said method as well as an installation for continuously making mineral fiber mats containing said device.

Method for detecting localized defects present in a mineral fiber mat

An internal combustion burner, especially for attenuation of mineral fibers, and including a combustion chamber, into which at least one duct for feeding fuel and oxidizer opens, and provided with an expansion orifice. The combustion chamber is provided with at least one flame stabilizing element, the geometry of the walls of which is chosen to create a confinement zone in which at least part of the combustion between oxidizer and fuel takes place.
