For radiation safety, a fluoroscope has an adjustable X-ray source-to-intensifier distance (SID) and an X-ray transparent spacer positioned between the source and receptor. As a distance between the source and the intensifier is changed, the spacer is moved or a different sized transparent spacer is used, to ensure a safe minimum skin-to-source distance (SSD) is maintained. A processor is programmed to inhibit the generation of X-rays if the SID is greater than a defined distance and the spacer is not in position.

A fluoroscope assembly having a contoured support arm with opposing first and second end portions, an adjustment element coupled to the first end portion or the second end portion, and an imaging head or an X-ray detector coupled to the adjustment element. The adjustment element is movable to adjust a position of the imaging head or the X-ray detector relative to the first and second end portions. The X-ray detector is coupled to the second end portion of the support arm. The adjustment element is configured to allow the imaging head or the X-ray detector to be moved between an aligned position, with the imaging head aligned with the X-ray detector for generating an X-ray image, and a misaligned position wherein the imaging head and the X-ray detector are misaligned and not in a suitable position to obtain an X-ray image.

Disclosed herein is a mobile fluoroscopic imaging system, and methods of use. A table top imaging system can include a support, an x-ray source carried by the support, an x-ray detector carried by the support and positionable at a distance from the source; a primary x-ray propagation axis extending between the source and the detector. The distance between the source and the detector can be adjustable along the axis, and the axis can be angularly adjustable throughout an angular range.

Mobile fluoroscopic imaging system

In an exemplary embodiment, an imaging apparatus comprises an arm assembly coupled to an imaging arm. The arm assembly includes a shoulder joint, an elbow joint, and an articulation assembly. The shoulder joint is configured to travel a vertical distance in a substantially linear fashion and provide rotational movement. The imaging arm comprises a first end and a second end. As such, the imaging apparatus is configured to provide radial motion along a path equal to the length of the arm assembly and the imaging arm along the vertical distance and the horizontal distance of the shoulder joint. The imaging apparatus may also comprise a movable cabinet, a monitor, and a control, with the arm assembly coupled to the movable cabinet. Furthermore, the imaging arm may comprise an x-ray source and a sensor, with the monitor displaying data detected by the sensor.
