An improved automatic image capture system for an intelligent mobile device having a camera guides a user to position the camera so only a single image needs to be automatically captured. Syntactic features, using a view finder on a display of the intelligent mobile device, are used to guide a user to maximize the occupancy of the view finder with the document so that the document is maximized within the view finder based upon detected corners of the document. When occupancy is maximized, the camera automatically captures the image of the document for post-processing using semantic knowledge of the document. A confidence level is computed based on the semantic knowledge to qualify an image with greater accuracy, and without user intervention, prior to transmission to a remote site.

Automatic image capture

An improved automatic image capture system for an intelligent mobile device having a camera guides a user to position the camera so only a single image needs to be automatically captured. A trapezoidal view finder on a display of the intelligent mobile device may be used to orient the camera with respect to a target document so there is an appropriate pitch and roll angle between the camera and the target document to avoid shadows caused by the camera or user. Further the user is guided to maximize the occupancy of the view finder with the document so that the document is maximized within the view finder. When all requisite conditions are satisfied, the camera automatically captures the image of the document for post-processing.

A machine implemented method of objectively determining attributes of a Web site is disclosed. A Web site located on a network of computers is spidered to determine all objects and hyperlinks associated with the Web site and an index is constructed to represent the Web site. The Web site is then analyze to discern scenes, similar to page views, and links that connect the scenes. Information is then collected of the relationships of the scenes that reflects human factors, such as wait times and hyperlink location. This relationship information is quantified and associated with the hyperlinks and scenes. A model is then constructed of the scenes and hyperlinks and the quantified relationship information is applied to the model. An objective effectiveness of the Web site is then calculated by mathematical treatment of the model. A preferred model is a graph theory model having vertices and edges.

Objective measurement and graph theory modeling of web sites

An audio/video media server for distributed editing over networks receives requests from clients on the networks that include a clip identifier, a delivery destination identifier and the frame numbers from the clip desired. The media server parses the requests and asynchronously accesses a file system to retrieve the requested media frames from a storage medium. The retrieved media frames are asynchronously transferred to a FIFO buffer, and a clock rate for a local clock is adjusted according to the fullness of the buffer. The media frames from the buffer are sent in the form of data packets over the networks in response to interrupts generated by the local clock. In this manner the timing for the media frames is controlled by the clients to assure a continuous stream of video during editing.

An auto selecting scrolling device is an improved user interface for viewing and making selection of a parameter from a menu. When a device, used to scroll through a menu, is activated the menu appears. A timer with user preset time limit is started. As long as the scrolling device is being used to scroll through the parameters in the menu, the timer is reset. While the scrolling is taking place the parameters are not only highlighted but also magnified. If the menu is no longer being scrolled through, then the timer expires upon attaining the user set limit. When the timer expires, the last highlighted parameter is selected and the menu is closed.
