A vacuum cleaner is provided with a housing, an upright handle assembly, a working air path including a working air inlet, and a suction source configured to generate a working air stream through the working air path. The vacuum assembly further comprising a separation and collection module assembly fluidly in fluid communication with the suction source and including a filter assembly having multiple layers of filter media.

Vacuum cleaner

A vacuum cleaner is provided with an improved air bleed valve for adjusting the level of suction and air flow through a working air path fluidly connecting a working air inlet with a separating and collection assembly. The air bleed valve can be provided on upright handle assembly of the vacuum cleaner, and can form a portion of the working air path.

A vacuum cleaner is provided with a necked-down suction channel formed in a housing adapted for movement over a surface to be cleaned. The housing further includes a suction nozzle and an agitator chamber. The necked-down suction channel has a height that is less than the height of the agitator chamber.

A detection device and detection device system are provided, wherein the detection device includes a housing, a first detector device and a second detector device. The first detector device is configured to detect at least one smoke particle. A second detector device configured to detect at least one gas particle, wherein the first detector device and the second detector device are substantially enclosed in the housing. The detection device further includes an audible enunciator configured to emit an audible noise when at least one of the first and second detector devices detect at least one smoke and gas particle, and a test button, wherein the audible enunciator emits an audible sound when the detection device is operating improperly and the test button is activated.

A notification system and method of visual notification of different types of events by flashing different colors is provided, wherein the notification system includes a master controller and a notification device. The master controller is configured to communicate at least one signal. The notification device includes an enclosure accepting a plurality of conductors providing both signaling and electrical power to the notification device, and at least one strobe drive circuit configured to supply an electrical signal for periodically flashing at least one strobe. The notification device further includes a strobe system configured to flash at least one strobe, such that the strobe system flashes one of at least two different colors, and a control logic configured to determine which color of the at least two different colors to flash at least one strobe based upon the signal received from at least one of the plurality of conductors.

Notification system and method thereof

A particle sensor is provided that includes a light source, an optical transducer, and a controller, wherein the controller is in communication with the light source and the optical transducer. The controller is configured to reject substantially all signals except those contributed by the light source.

Optical particle detectors

An evacuation appliance comprising a mounting plate configured to be connected to a wall, with the mounting plate having a terminal clip. The evacuation appliance further includes a notification device having at least one notification member, with the notification device being configured to be connected to the mounting plate to electronically connect the terminal clip to the at least one notification member to power the at least one notification member. The mounting plate and the notification device comprise an accessible testing system, such that when the mounting plate and the notification device are connected, the notification device can be measured using the accessible testing system to determine if the notification device is properly receiving power from the terminal clip without disconnecting the notification device from the mounting plate.
