Apparatus for use in handling windscreens for example for installation in a vehicle, includes a windscreen anchor assembly comprising a windscreen anchor device and a support arm extending away from the windscreen anchor device. A mount assembly is provided for supporting the windscreen anchor assembly. The mount assembly includes a mount structure for engaging with the support arm such that the support arm can slide bodily in its longitudinal direction with respect to the mount structure.

Windscreen installation apparatus and method

A system for detecting damage to a glass surface particularly vehicle glazing panels such as vehicle windscreens. The system uses a sensor unit disposed proximate the surface and a processor in communication with the sensor unit. The processor is configured to analyse data received from the sensor unit in order to determine the integrity of the surface and a communication unit is configured to output a signal in response to the processor determining that the surface has been damaged. For vehicle glass the system is preferably integrated into the vehicle management and control systems such that the system is active when the vehicle is active or moving. The management and or control system may monitor for instances or situations when changes, such as above threshold changes, occur in order to produce an output warning signal.

Systems and methods for damage detection

A winder unit is provided for use with cutting wire in cutting out a vehicle glazing panel. The winder unit includes first and second winder spools spaced apart from one another, where the winder spools are configured to wind the cutting wire. The winder unit further includes a suction mount for mounting the winder unit, wherein the suction mount comprises a single suction device only. And the winder unit further includes at least one wire guide element spaced from the winder spools, wherein the at least one wire guide element is mounted with respect to the winder unit so as to be adjustable in position or orientation with respect to at least one of the suction mount and the winder spools.

Apparatus and method for cutting out a vehicle glazing panel

A cutting device, particularly suited for removing vehicle glazing panels, has forward blade carrier and a rearward handle spaced from the forward blade carrier. The forward blade carrier may function as a handle, the device thereby being operable in two handed use. The rearward handle and forward blade may be movable relative to one another permitting re-configuration of the device. The rearward handle and forward blade carrier may be connected by a bridge portion.

Cutting device

The condition of a glazing panel () is investigated using a viewing device () to view an illuminating electromagnetic radiation profile at a target zone. Data relating to the viewed radiation profile is compared to datum data, to produce an output related to the condition of the glazing panel at the target zone.

Glazing panels such as vehicle glazing panels bonded to a supporting frame are released by firstly arranging light energy delivery means adjacent the panel and subsequently transmitting light energy from the delivery means through the panel thereby to effect release of the panel from the frame. The light may be pulsed according to a predetermined regime and may be delivered by a discharge lamp having rapidly attenuating intensity. The mechanism of panel release may be by thermal degradation of the bonding material, cleavage of material at a surface of, or within the body of the panel, or a combination of such mechanisms.

Releasing of glazing panels

Glazing panels such as vehicle windscreens bonded to a supporting frame are released by firstly arranging light energy delivery means adjacent the panel and subsequently transmitting light energy from the delivery means through the panel thereby to effect release of the panel from the frame. The light may be pulsed according to a predetermined regime and may be delivered by a discharge lamp having rapidly attenuating intensity, or quasi continuous wave pulsed laser. The mechanism of panel release may be by thermal degradation of the bonding material, cleavage of material at a surface of, or within the body of the panel, or a combination of such mechanisms.

An apparatus for repairing a crack in a vehicle windshield includes a high frequency vibration applicator and repair material. The high frequency vibration applicator includes a high frequency vibration generator, an elongate vibration delivery probe, and a handle grip for manipulation of the high frequency vibration applicator by a user. The vibration delivery probe delivers high frequency vibration from the generator to the windshield via a tip of the probe. A method of repairing a crack in a vehicle windshield includes infilling the crack with a repair material, applying to the windshield a tip of an elongate vibration delivery probe of a high frequency vibration applicator, and manipulating the high frequency vibration applicator to track the probe in a longitudinal direction of the crack.
