A slip body includes a first plurality of ramps a second plurality of ramps. An anchor, includes a first compression body, and a second compression body, at least one being movable relative to the other, and a slip body disposed between the first and second compression bodies. A method for anchoring a tool in a borehole, including disposing the anchor above in the borehole, reducing a distance between the first and second compression bodies, camming against the first plurality of ramps and/or the second plurality of ramps of the slip body to move the slip body radially. A wellbore system, including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, and a slip as described above, disposed within or as a part of the string.

A releasable locking assembly including a housing, a body defining a longitudinally extending flow bore having a first end and a second end disposed within the housing, a window defined through a radial wall of the body, a locking segment having an outer convex surface of a first radius defined by distance from a first axis, and an inner concave surface of a second radius defined by distance from a second axis different than the first axis, the locking segment disposed at least in part in the window, and a support member disposed within the body and moveable between a position where the support member drives the locking segment into engagement with the housing and a position where the support member unsupports the locking segment with regard to engagement with the housing.

A drag block for retaining slips on a tool includes a body having a substantially annular outer surface and a substantially annular inner surface, and a plurality of drag block members resiliently mounted to the substantially annular outer surface. Each of the plurality of drag block members includes a support element and a block element. The support element has a first end fixedly mounted to the substantially annular outer surface and a second, cantilevered end. The drag block is mounted to the second cantilevered end.

An anti-extrusion ring including a ring body having a cross sectional shape, a radial contact surface making up a part of the cross sectional shape of the ring body the radial contact surface being configured to preferentially load a radial edge portion of the radial contact surface when the anti-extrusion ring is loaded, an axial contact surface making up a part of the cross sectional shape, the axial contact surface being configured to preferentially load an axial edge portion of the axial contact surface when the anti-extrusion ring is loaded, and an element load surface positioned between the radial edge portion and the axial edge portion and method for creating a seal.

Pressure activated anti-extrusion ring for annular seal, seal configuration, and method

A T-shaped slip is retained in an opening of a slip ring to drive the slip in opposed directions to and away from the surrounding borehole wall along a cone. The slip ring and cone do not come together when the slip is engaged. The opening allows release of a lock ring first with the slip engaged followed by release of the slip from the borehole wall. The slip ring and cone come together during removal from the borehole. A travel stop on the axial slip movement is provided to prevent guides on the slip from exiting a track or dovetail on the cone when the slip ring and cone are in contact during removal of the plug or packer. Extension of the guide from the cone track can happen if the slip moves through an enlarged portion of the borehole. The travel stop prevents this.
