This document describes techniques for parking and ventilation management systems for vehicle batteries. An example system includes a processor that determines whether a battery of a vehicle requires cooling. In response to a determination that the battery requires cooling, the processor determines where the vehicle is located (e.g., home garage or public location). If the vehicle is parked in the home garage, the processor requests a change in an initial state value of a home component (e.g., garage door) to reduce the ambient temperature of the home garage. If the vehicle is located in a public location, the processor determines a parking space with optimal thermal conditions (e.g., shaded or fewer surrounding vehicles) and autonomously operates the vehicle to the selected parking space. In this way, the described system can manage ambient conditions to improve temperature management of vehicle batteries, thereby improving their reliability and longevity.

Parking and ventilation management systems for vehicle batteries

Described are techniques and systems for secure camera based IMU calibration for stationary systems, including vehicles. Existing vehicle camera systems are employed, with enhanced security to prevent malicious attempts by hackers to try and cause a vehicle to enter IMU calibration mode. IMU calibration occurs when a calibration system determines the vehicle is parked in a controlled environment; calibration targets are positioned at different viewing angles to vehicle cameras to act as sources of optical patterns of encoded data. Features of the patterns are for security as well as for alignment functionality. Images of the calibration targets enable inference of a vehicle coordinate system, from which calculations for IMU mounting error compensations are performed. A relative rotation between the IMU and the vehicle coordinate system are applied to IMU data to compensate for relative rotations between the vehicle and the IMU, thereby improving vehicle slope and bank metrics.

Secure camera based inertial measurement unit calibration for stationary systems

Techniques are provided for operating a vehicle in a first vehicle mode; operating at least one component of the vehicle in a first component mode; detecting a first change in operation of the vehicle from the first vehicle mode to a second vehicle mode different from the first vehicle mode; based on the detected the first change in the operation of the vehicle, predicting a second change in operation of the vehicle; in response to predicting the second change in operation of the vehicle, operating the at least one component in a second component mode different from the first component mode prior to the predicted second change in operation of the vehicle.

An inertial measurement unit (IMU) self-test system includes an IMU and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to receive IMU data collected by the IMU and inputs from systems external to the IMU indicative of mechanical stimulus, wherein the control circuit utilizes IMU data collected in response to the mechanical stimulus to determine IMU validity.

Responsive to determining that a quality of a V2V connection between a host vehicle and a target does not satisfy a threshold, a following position of the host vehicle relative to the target and whether the following position is within a predicted null position of the V2V connection and closer to the target than a selected position are determined. The following position is then controlled based on whether the following position is within the predicted null position and whether the following position is closer to the target than the selected position. By controlling the following position based on the quality of the V2V connection and the null position, more-reliable V2V connections may be maintained, thus enabling better performance of downstream operations.

Vehicle positioning for V2V optimization

A system includes a first transceiver and a controller circuit. The first transceiver is configured to transmit first radio frequency (RF) signals. The first transceiver is further configured to output the first RF signals at a first transmission level corresponding to a first transmission range. The controller circuit is communicatively coupled with the first transceiver. The controller circuit is configured to attenuate the first RF signals to transfer the first RF signals at a second transmission level lower than the first transmission level. The second transmission level corresponds to a shorter transmission range than the first transmission range. The controller circuit detects a presence of at least one second transceiver within the shorter transmission range using the first RF signals transmitted at the second transmission level.

System and method of reducing a communication range

The techniques of this disclosure relate to a system for transmitting radio frequency signals. The system includes a controller in communication with a first device fixed within a first housing attached to an exterior of a vehicle. The system also includes a second device fixed within a second housing attached to the exterior of the vehicle. The controller determines whether the first housing and the second housing are in a first position or in a second position. When the first housing and the second housing are in the first position, the controller transmits first radio frequency signals via the first device and via the second device. When the first housing and the second housing are in the second position, the controller transmits second radio frequency signals via the first device and via the second device. The system improves an antenna coverage area of the first device and second device.

System for transmitting radio frequency signals from a vehicle

A vehicle safety system includes at least one detector positioned to monitor at least a portion of an interior of a vehicle and a processor/communication system configured to receive inputs from the at least one detector and to communicate with brought-in devices located within the vehicle. The processor/communication system determines a location of the brought-in device based on visible/IR signals generated by the brought-in device and detected by the at least one detector, wherein the processor/communication system communicates restrictions/permissions to the brought-in device based on the determined location.

System and method to restrict device access in vehicles

An illustrative example vehicle to everything (V2X) system includes at least one V2X antenna and a V2X transceiver coupled with the V2X antenna. The V2X transceiver is configured to communicate using a first frequency band. A receiver is configured to receive communications on at least a second frequency band that is different than the first frequency band. A controller is configured to selectively cause the receiver to be configured to receive communications on the first frequency band and determine a condition of at least one of the V2X transceiver and the V2X antenna based on an indication from the receiver regarding any communication received by the receiver on the first frequency band from the V2X transceiver and the V2X antenna.
