A platform for patient engagement and treatment compliance is disclosed. In an example, a system includes a home therapy machine configured to perform a renal failure therapy treatment. The system also includes a mobile communication device including an application that enables a patient to select a program type for a future renal failure therapy treatment. The application is configured to determine a short program and a long program are available for the future renal failure therapy treatment and cause a user interface to provide an option to select one of the short program or the long program. The application is also configured to receive a selection of the short program or the long program via the user interface and transmit a message to the home therapy machine, the message indicative of the selection of the short program or the long program for the future renal failure therapy treatment.

The system also includes a mobile communication device including an application having a calendar feature that identifies times/days in which the renal failure therapy treatment is scheduled to be performed. The application is configured to use the calendar feature to determine a time/day of a next scheduled renal failure therapy treatment. At a designated time before the next scheduled renal failure therapy treatment, the application causes a display interface of the personal mobile communication device to display a prompt for medical information. When the medical information is not received before the next scheduled renal failure therapy treatment, the application causes the home therapy machine to delay a start of the next scheduled renal failure therapy treatment.

A medical fluid delivery system and apparatus for remote machine updating and control are disclosed. An example medical fluid delivery apparatus includes a processor and a dialysis fluid circuit including at least one dialysis fluid pump. The processor determines a dialysis treatment or a preprogrammed task is not being performed by the least one dialysis fluid pump. After determining a dialysis treatment or a preprogrammed task is not being performed, the processor activates a connectivity agent to communicatively couple to a server via a network. The processor then receives, from the server via the connectivity agent, a command message to perform a preprogrammed task. The processor next deactivates the connectivity agent to stop communication with the server and causes the at least one dialysis fluid pump to perform the preprogrammed task.

A medical fluid delivery system and apparatus for remote machine updating and control are disclosed. An example medical fluid delivery apparatus includes a processor and a dialysis fluid circuit including at least one dialysis fluid pump. The processor is configured to receive a disinfection input to begin a disinfection procedure and cause the at least one dialysis fluid pump to perform a disinfection procedure on the dialysis fluid circuit using a disinfection fluid. The processor is also configured to, after the disinfection procedure is complete, start a disinfection timer. When a dialysis input is received before the disinfection timer reaches zero, the processor enables a dialysis treatment to be performed. When the disinfection timer reaches zero before the dialysis input is received, the processor prevents the dialysis treatment from being performed until the disinfection procedure is performed again.

A system and method for collecting whole blood from blood donors includes first and second whole blood collection devices disposed at different blood donation centers. A remote server computer is in communication with the blood collection devices. The whole blood collection devices transfer donation procedure information to the remote server. The remote server computer facilitates retrieval of the donation procedure information at a handheld computing device. The donation procedure information includes data based on product volume collected and data indicating performance of operators of the whole blood collection devices. The handheld computing device displays a number of whole blood units collected. Blood collection can be improved using the donation procedure information.

In an example, a system includes a clinician server, a personal mobile communication device storing first registration information for communicating with the clinician server, and a home therapy machine assigned to a patient and configured to transmit treatment information related to a dialysis treatment performed on the patient. The home therapy machine is capable of being communicatively coupled to the clinician server via a separate Internet connection as specified by second registration information and the personal mobile communication device via a local connection. The personal mobile communication device is configured to transmit the received treatment information to the clinician server using the first registration information.

A medical fluid delivery system including remote machine updating and control is disclosed. An example medical fluid delivery system includes a medical fluid delivery device for a patient. The medical fluid delivery system also includes a server in communication with the medical fluid delivery device and a software application for a mobile device. The software application causes an icon to be displayed representing the medical fluid delivery device. The medical fluid delivery system further includes a first communication link between the medical fluid delivery device and the server, and a second communication link between the server and the software application. The software application receives status updates from the medical fluid delivery device via the server and the first and second links.

A patient platform for patient engagement and treatment compliance is disclosed. In an example, a home therapy machine of a patient is configured to transmit treatment information and a clinician database is configured to store a medical record and a registration file identifying the home therapy machine and a personal device of the patient as registered devices. The registration file also identifies whether the personal device installed an application for viewing the treatment information. A server is configured to store the treatment information to the medical record, receive an indication that the treatment information is to be displayed at the personal device, and determine from the registration file if the application is installed on the personal device. If the application is not installed, the server converts the treatment information to text message or Short Messaging Service ('SMS') format for transmission.

Methods for sterilely connecting a container to a blood processing set

A patient platform for patient engagement and treatment compliance is disclosed. In an example, a processor is configured to obtain medical information from a patient for engagement and treatment compliance tracking. To obtain the medical information, the processor causes a user interface to be displayed with fields to be populated with medical information. After receiving a selection of a data field, the processor provides an option to enter medical information from an image. If the option is selected, the processor receives a recorded image of a medical device or a screen of a medical device, extracts text from the image, enables a selection of at least a portion of the text from the image, and writes the selected text from the image into the data field of the user interface as the medical information. The processor transmits the medical information to a patient medical record stored in a clinician database.

A medical fluid delivery system including remote machine updating and control is disclosed. An example medical fluid delivery system includes a first fluid delivery device for a first patient and a second fluid delivery device for a second patient. The medical fluid delivery system also includes a server in communication with the first and second fluid delivery devices and a software application for a mobile device. The software application causes a first icon to be displayed representing the first fluid delivery device and a second icon to be simultaneously displayed representing the second fluid delivery device. The medical fluid delivery system further includes a first communication link between the first and second fluid delivery devices and the server, and a second communication link between the server and the software application. The software application receives status updates from the fluid delivery devices via the server and the first and second links.

A medical fluid delivery system in one embodiment includes: a first medical fluid delivery machine configured to generate a first message for remote transmission to a first patient or caregiver indicating (i) that the first medical fluid delivery machine is ready to perform a task or (ii) a preprogrammed time for the first medical fluid delivery machine to perform a task; and a second medical fluid delivery machine configured to generate a second message for remote transmission to a second patient or caregiver indicating (i) that the second medical fluid delivery machine is ready to perform a task or (ii) a preprogrammed time for the second medical fluid delivery machine to perform a task.
