Treatment of subterranean formations using acid blends that contain alcohols and surfactants is described herein. The alcohols and surfactants are used together to retard the activity of acid on acid-susceptible species of rock formations.

Single-phase alcohol-based retarded acid

A method includes placing, via a bailer, a slurry into a wellbore to deposit a slurry downhole. The slurry includes a solids mixture and a fluid. The method also includes terminating placement of the slurry for a period of time. A viscous pill inhibits settling of the solids mixture, and the slurry displaces the viscous pill in contact with a surface of a screen.

High solids content fluid techniques

Methods for shortening the waiting-on-cement (WOC) time during primary and remedial cementing operations are disclosed. A fluid pill is injected into the wellbore that comprises reactants. The reaction is exothermic and heat is conducted into the cement sheath, thereby accelerating hydration and shortening the time necessary for the slurry to set and harden.

An additional aqueous solution is disclosed including water, an acid, and an acid neutralizing agent which can be a reaction product of at least a portion of the nitrogen-containing compound and the functionalizing agent. Methods of treating a formation are also disclosed including treating a formation fluidly coupled to a wellbore with an oilfield treatment fluid comprising either or both of the aqueous solutions.

Aqueous solution and method for use thereof

Methods of controlling viscosity of acids

Described herein are methods for on the fly mixing of retarded acidizing fluids containing acid, a water-soluble acid retarding agent (RA), and optionally a viscoelastic surfactant (VES), and for on the fly mixing of diversion fluids containing VES and RA in the same equipment. On the fly mixing of acids and diversion fluids with water-soluble retarding agents

Methods include combining an amount of water and an acid retarding agent (RA), where the amount of water is present in an amount up to about 5 times the mass of the RA, inclusive, and wherein the RA includes at least one salt compound. An amount of acid is dissolved in the combined amount of water and RA to form a composition, where the amount of acid is a molar ratio of acid:RA of between 4.0 and 0.2, inclusive, and wherein the amount of acid is up to about 36% by weight of total weight of the composition. The composition is injected into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation at a pressure, which may be less than the fracture initiation pressure of the subterranean formation in some cases, while in other cases equal to or greater than the fracture initiation pressure.

Aqueous retarded acid solution and methods for use thereof

An aqueous composition comprising a mineral acid, a fixing agent and water present in an amount sufficient to dissolve the mineral acid and the fixing agent. The fixing agent comprises at least one of an amine and/or an amide containing compound having a dipole moment of at least 3 when in the aqueous composition.
