A lighting system, having a lighting module; an auxiliary lighting module connected to a pole, the auxiliary lighting module having a coupler; a housing extending along a longitudinal axis and having an elongated opening, the housing containing an illumination source therein extending along the longitudinal axis; a battery; and a controller stack connected to the lighting module and the auxiliary lighting module by wiring. The controller stack has an alternating current power supply and a switching circuit having a voltage monitor connecting the alternating current power.

Modular auxiliary lighting system with asymmetrical illumination sources

An illumination system has a controller stack that includes multiple power conversion and LED driver assemblies and a pole-mounted backplane that provides power and communication connections. The pole-mounted backplane further acts as a heat-sink and efficiently transmits excess heat to the pole on which the controller stack is mounted. The controller stack and its components include weathertight housings and connectors for outdoor applications, and it includes a master, which monitors the system operation and can switch to a backup LED driver based upon its monitoring of system operation.

The area may include the illumination device. the method may further include receiving, from an orientation sensor module of the illumination device, orientation data for the illumination device, and using the orientation data and the aiming vector to determine if there is an error in the aiming of the illumination device. The response to determining that there is an error in the aiming of the illumination device, the method further includes causing a controller associated with a driving means of the illumination device for correcting the error in the aiming of the illumination device.

Method and system for alignment of illumination device

A lighting system that can thermally balance the usage of elements of the system to manage the wear rates of lifetime limiting components. The lighting system includes multiple light emitting diode illumination sources, each of which driven by a light emitting diode driver positioned in a separate housing remotely from a luminaire. A controller supervises all of the light emitting diode drivers and can adjust the power out of any of the light emitting diode drivers that are experiencing a faster loss of lifespan due to local conditions. The controller may also activate a thermal cooling device positioned in the housing of the light emitting diode driver to stabilize the temperature of a light emitting diode driver with an out of balance temperature, thereby reducing the loss of lifetime relative other drivers operating at lower temperatures.

A luminaire that can resist the shock associated with a ballistics event and continue to operate. The luminaire has a base formed from high ductility aluminum. An illumination source, such as a light emitting diode array, is secured to a support of the base. A lens having a gasket is positioned over the illumination source and secured thereto with a clamp. A ballistic shield having a dual gasket is coupled to the clamp by a bezel positioned over the ballistic shield and secured to the clamp. The gaskets extending around the peripheral edges of the lens and the shield cooperate with the highly ductile aluminum base to reduce the transmission of any shock associated with a ballistic event to the illumination source and associated electronics.

A self-supporting luminaire housing that can additionally support additional housings mounted for mounting to a support pole without any cross arms. The housing has a mounting plate for an illumination source, a spine spaced apart from the mounting plate, triangular fins extending between the mounting plate and the spine, and a set of braces coupled to and extending from the mounting plate to the spine. The mounting plate is rectangular, and the spine extends longitudinally relative to the mounting plate. Some of the braces extend perpendicularly from the mounting plate, and some of the braces extend obliquely from the mounting plate to form a supporting truss with the spin and the mounting plate. The housing may be formed as an integral unit to improve thermal dissipation via two thermal pathways from the illumination source to the fins.

A lighting device control system for controlling one or more lighting devices includes a gateway controller communicatively coupled with at least one lighting device. The gateway controller is configured to receive a signal indicating that a portable electronic device is in a proximate range of either the gateway controller or the at least one lighting device. Upon receipt of the signal the gateway controller is further configured to receive a light operation request from the portable electronic device, determine whether the portable electronic device is authorized to initiate the light operation request, and in response to determining that the portable electronic device is authorized to submit the light operation request, cause the at least one lighting device to emit light that exhibits the settings for the one or more optical characteristics included in the light operation request.

Method and system for controlling functionality of lighting devices

A power supply unit for an illumination device that includes a multi-mode power supply configured to supply power to an illumination device having one or more LED modules and a control circuit. The multi-mode power supply includes a primary power supply component configured to supply power to non-essential components of the illumination device, and a secondary power supply component configured to supply power to only essential components of the illumination device. The nonessential components include the one or more LED modules, and the essential components include the control circuit but not the one or more LED modules.

A system for detecting misalignment of a light fixture uses a gateway controller device to receive images captured by an aerial drone. The gateway controller will select a group of the images and, for each image in the group: identify a segment of an illuminated surface that is contained in the image; identify a light fixture that is configured to direct light to the segment; and determine whether the image contains content indicating that the light fixture improperly aligned. For any image that indicating that the light fixture is improperly aligned, the system will output a signal indicating that the light fixture requires recalibration.
