A crude distillation and refining process and apparatus enables modular supply of the crude distillation column. Crude oil may be heated and then separated into only two liquid products in the crude distillation column. The separation between the light and heavy products may be controlled by the overhead product flow rate. Heat is recovered from an overhead stream and a bottoms stream by pre-heating the incoming crude oil stream by heat exchange with overhead stream and the bottoms stream. In an embodiment, a diesel-range distillate fraction may be condensed from an overhead stream in a first heat exchanger and a naphtha-range fraction may be condensed from the gas stream uncondensed by the first heat exchanger in a second heat exchanger.

Modular crude refining process

GCI fuel compositions and methods of making them are described. The GCI fuel compositions comprises a fuel blend having an initial boiling point in a range of about 26&#xb0; C. to about 38&#xb0; C. and a final boiling point in a range of about 193&#xb0; C. to less than 250&#xb0; C., a density of about 0.72 kg/l to about 0.8 kg/l at 15&#xb0; C., a research octane number of about 70 to about 85, and a cetane number of less than about 27, the fuel blend comprising a naphtha stream and a kerosene stream.

Fuel composition for GCI engines and method of production

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for producing a chemical feedstock. The process can include passing a feed to a hydrotreatment zone, passing an effluent from the hydrotreatment zone to a fractionation zone, passing a stream including one or more C5-C25 hydrocarbons from the fractionation zone to a fluid catalytic cracking zone to obtain an another stream including one or more C6-C10 hydrocarbons, and passing the another stream to an adsorption zone for removing at least one heteroatom compound having a sulfur or a nitrogen atom.

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for converting a hydrocarbon stream. The process can include passing the hydrocarbon stream having one or more C40hydrocarbons to a slurry hydrocracking zone to obtain a distillate hydrocarbon stream having one or more C9-C22 hydrocarbons, and passing the distillate hydrocarbon stream to a hydrocracking zone for selectively hydrocracking aromatic compounds including at least two rings obtaining a processed distillate product.

A process has been developed for producing diesel fuel from renewable feedstocks such as plant oils and greases. The process involves treating a renewable feedstock by hydrogenating and deoxygenating to provide a diesel fuel hydrocarbon product. If desired, the hydrocarbon product can be isomerized to improve cold flow properties. A portion of the hydrocarbon product is recycled to the treatment zone to increase the hydrogen solubility of the reaction mixture.

Production of diesel fuel and aviation fuel from renewable feedstocks

A process and apparatus is described in which a sulfiding agent is added to a catalytic conversion reactor to prevent metal catalyzed coking. The catalytic reactor may be downstream from a first fluid catalytic cracking reactor that provides C&#x2014; hydrocarbons as feed to the downstream catalytic reactor.

A process and apparatus is described in which a sulfiding agent is added to a catalytic conversion reactor to prevent metal catalyzed coking. Integrated process for oil extraction and production of diesel fuel from biorenewable feedstocks

An integrated process has been developed for producing diesel boiling range fuel from renewable feedstocks such as plant and animal fats and oils and using a byproduct naphtha as a denaturant for ethanol. The process involves treating a renewable feedstock by hydrogenating and deoxygenating i.e. decarboxylating, decarbonylating, and/or hydrodeoxygenating to provide a hydrocarbon fraction useful as a diesel fuel or diesel boiling range fuel blending component. If desired, the hydrocarbon fraction can be isomerized to improve cold flow properties. A byproduct naphtha stream from the diesel boiling range fuel production process is used as the denaturant in an alcohol denaturing process for the generation of denaturized ethanol.

Integrated process for production of diesel fuel from renewable feedstocks and ethanol denaturizing

A process for the autocatalytic production of organic hydroperoxides and ultra low sulfur diesel boiling range hydrocarbons is disclosed. The organic hydroperoxides react with sulfur compounds to produce sulfones, and the sulfones can be removed from the diesel boiling range hydrocarbons to provide ultra low sulfur diesel.

Process for producing hydroperoxides

A process for the conversion of a hydrocarbon feedstock to produce olefins, aromatic compounds and ultra low sulfur diesel wherein the hydrocarbon feedstock is reacted in a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) zone to produce olefins and light cycle oil. The effluent from the FCC is preferably separated to produce a stream comprising ethylene and propylene, a stream comprising higher boiling olefins and light cycle oil (LCO). The stream containing the higher boiling olefins is cracked to provide additional ethylene and propylene. The LCO is selectively hydrocracked to produce aromatic compounds and ultra low sulfur diesel.

A method and apparatus for alkylating an alkylation substrate with an alkylating agent in the presence of solid catalyst particles in a transport reactor is disclosed. Solid catalyst particles in the transport reactor effluent recirculate to the inlet of the transport reactor through one or more conduits. The rate through each conduit is regulated by fluid-controlled valves that use the alkylation substrate as the regulating fluid. This method and apparatus help ensure uniform or symmetric flow of catalyst from the effluent of the transport reactor to the bottom of the transport reactor. This method and apparatus also help ensure uniform or symmetric flow of alkylation substrate to the bottom of the transport reactor with minimal bypassing by the alkylating agent around of the transport reactor. This invention finds use in the production of motor fuels by the alkylation of liquid hydrocarbons in the presence of solid catalyst particles.
