The present application provides a memory device. The memory device includes a connector plate having a front edge and a rear edge opposite to the front edge, wherein the connector plate comprises an edge connector disposed at the rear edge and configured to connect to a host connector of a host device; a controller plate defining a first connection region, a second connection region and a chip region, wherein the controller plate is attached to the connector plate at the first connection region, and the controller plate comprises a memory control module disposed in the chip region and in electrical communication with the edge connector; and at least one memory module detachably connected to the controller plate at the second connection region of the controller plate, wherein each of the at least one memory module is in electrical communication with the memory control module when the memory module is connected to the controller plate, such that the memory module can be accessible by the host device via the memory control module.

A memory device with modular design and the memory system comprising the same is disclosed. The memory device comprises a substrate plate having a front edge, a rear edge opposite to the front edge, and a top side and a bottom side which are opposite to each other and extend between the front edge and the rear edge; an edge connector positioned at the rear edge and configured to connect to a host connector of a host device; a memory control module positioned on one of the top side and the bottom side of the substrate plate; at least one socket positioned on the top side of the substrate plate and configured to connect to at least one removable memory module; and wherein the memory controller module is electrically coupled to the edge connector and the at least one socket such that the at least one memory module can be accessible by the host device via the memory control module.

An apparatus for controlling access to a memory device comprising rows of memory units is provided. The apparatus comprises: an operation monitor configured to track memory operations to the rows of memory units of the memory device; a row hammer counter configured to determining, for each of the rows of memory units, row hammer effects experienced by the row of memory units due to the memory operations to the other rows of memory units of the memory device; a mitigation module configured to initiate, for each of the rows of memory units, row hammer mitigation in case that accumulated row hammer effects experienced by the row of memory units reach a predetermined threshold; and a virtual host module configured to perform the row hammer mitigation targeting a row of memory units in response to the initiation of row hammer mitigation for the row of memory units by the mitigation module.

A memory device includes a printed circuit board having a plurality of conductive layers; memory chips mounted over the printed circuit board, wherein the memory chips comprise at least a first number of memory chips and a second number of memory chips; a first power module mounted over the printed circuit board and for providing a first set of power supplies to the first number of memory chips through the plurality of conductive layers; and a second power module mounted over the printed circuit board and for providing a second set of power supplies to the second number of memory chips through the plurality of conductive layers.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for applying a bilateral filter to an image. During operation, the system selects a first region within the image which is associated with a first pixel. Next, the system constructs a first histogram using pixel values within the first region. The system then computes a new value for the first pixel using the current value of the first pixel and the first histogram. The system then selects a second region within the image which is associated with a second pixel. Next, the system determines a non-overlapping region between the first region and the second region. The system then constructs a second histogram using the first histogram and pixel values in the non-overlapping region. Next, the system computes a new value for the second pixel using the current value of the second pixel and the second histogram.

Fast bilateral filtering using rectangular regions

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for filtering an image. A filter kernel is received to determine one or more filtered values for each pixel in a sequence of pixels, where adjacent pixels are separated by a characteristic distance in the image. A difference kernel is defined based on local differences between a first kernel and a second kernel that are defined by the filter kernel centered at a first location and a second location, respectively. The second location is separated from the first location by the characteristic distance separating adjacent pixels in the sequence. The difference kernel is used to determine a difference between filtered values of adjacent pixels in the sequence. For depth of field filtering, the filter kernel can include a blur filter kernel that is based upon depth values of pixels in the sequence.

Using difference kernels for image filtering

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for applying a filter to an image whose pixel values can span a large range of values. During operation the system receives an image to which the filter is to be applied. The system then selects a first region within the image which is associated with a first pixel. Next, the system generates a first histogram using pixels within the first region whose values are within a first range of pixel values. Next, the system determines a new value for the first pixel using the first histogram. The system then selects a second region within the image which is associated with a second pixel. Next, the system determines if the second pixel value is within a second range of pixel values. If the second pixel value is within the second range of pixel values, the system determines a non-overlapping region between the first region and the second region. The system then generates a second histogram using the first histogram and pixel values in the non-overlapping region. Next, the system determines a new value for the second pixel using the second histogram.

Method and apparatus for applying a filter to an image with a large range of pixel values

Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a higher dynamic range image sensor may be implemented by comparing a voltage across the sensor to a threshold voltage during image capture. At the threshold voltage, a count may be registered and the image sensor may be reset for continued image capture until an exposure is complete. A final image signal may be obtained by multiplying the threshold voltage by the number of counts registered and adding the final image sensor voltage.

Methods and apparatus that generate data structures representing the frequency with which colors occur in a collection of colors, such as occurs in a raster image. The invention provides a list consisting essentially of first generation entries and combines first generation entries to form a list consisting essentially of second generation entries. Each first generation entry has an associated color set of one or more colors. Each first generation entry represents the frequency with which colors in the associated color set appear in the image. The color sets for all of the first generation entries are mutually non-intersecting. Particular embodiments have the following features. Each second generation color set corresponds to a volume of the color space. All second generation color sets have the same size. The second generation entries can be combined to form a list of third generation entries. A list of entries is used to generate a palette In another aspect, the invention features a method of generating a histogram. The method includes (a) dividing the color space into a set of disjoint volumes; (b) for each occurrence of a color in the collection of colors, (i) identifying the volume in which the color is found, (ii) providing an entry associated with the identified volume in a list of entries, where each entry is associated with exactly one distinct volume, and (iii) updating the frequency data of the entry; (c) before all occurrences in the collection have been processed, (i) redividing the color space into a current set of larger, disjoint volumes, (ii) combining original entries in the list so that each resulting entry is associated with exactly one distinct volume and combines the frequency data of the original entries that were combined to form the resulting entry, and (iii) continuing the processing of step (b); and (d) generating a color frequency histogram from the newest entries in the list.
