A system and method for providing virtual items to users of an online game operated in a virtual space. Multiple users may participate in affiliations or alliances of discrete groups of users in an online game and may access the online game through client computing platforms associated with the users. The affiliations may have affiliation game units associated with affiliations which provide a benefit to the members of the online game. Affiliation members may cumulatively obtain affiliation game units and/or upgrade affiliation game units by providing one or more virtual items. Upgrading affiliation game units may require the cooperation of multiple members of the affiliation.

System and method for providing virtual items to users of a virtual space

In non-limiting examples of the present disclosure, systems, methods and devices for surfacing drive safety notifications are provided. A personal driving pattern library comprising first data associated with a first user for a plurality of road sections included in a first route may be maintained. A global driving pattern library comprising second data associated with a plurality of users for the plurality of road sections included in the first route may be maintained. A determination may be made that the first user is going to travel the first route. A first drive safety score for the first user driving the first route may be calculated. A determination may be made that the first drive safety score is below a threshold value. A drive safety notification may be caused to be surfaced.

Drive safety forecast for future drives

A computer-implemented technique controls consumption of applications by a supervisee (e.g., a child). The technique detects when a supervisee attempts to interact with an application. In response, the technique receives context input signals that describe a current context affecting the supervisee. The technique then generates an output result based on the current context information and a set of rules expressed by rule logic. The technique then controls interaction by the supervisee with the application based on the output result. In one implementation, the technique automatically generates the rule logic, which may correspond to a set of discrete rules and/or a machine-trained model that implicitly expresses the rules. At least some of the rules specify amounts of time allocated to the supervisee for interaction with the plural applications in plural contexts. According to another illustrative aspect, the technique uses a machine-trained model to automatically classify a new application.

Controlling screen time based on context

In non-limiting examples of the present disclosure, systems, methods and devices for surfacing alerts are provided. A monitoring service may monitor a plurality of devices associated with a group. The group may include a plurality of accounts. Each account may be associated with a different location control list. The location control list may include locational information comprising geocoordinates of locations that a corresponding user is approved to visit and temporal information corresponding to times, days of the week, and/or dates when a corresponding user is approved to visit a location. If a determination is made that a device associated with an account is at a location that is not included in a location control list for the account, an anomaly alert may be surfaced on one or more devices associated with other group members. The alert may be surfaced in association with a safety score for the location.

A computer-implemented technique is described herein for receiving activity signals from plural logic components running on one or more computing devices. Each activity signal includes an activity information item (AII) that describes an activity performed by a subject (e.g., a user), or to be performed by the subject, as recorded by a logic component. The technique stores AIIs extracted from the activity signals in a graph data structure. The technique then: determines, by interrogating the graph data structure, one or more activity clusters within a span of time, each activity cluster pertaining to a group of AIIs associated with a same encompassing project; generates one or more summary documents based on the identified activity cluster(s); and sends the summary documents to an output device.

Automatically generating activity summaries based on signals obtained from plural devices and logic components

A computer-implemented technique is described for using an automation tool to facilitate the preparation of a summary document, such as an expense report. In a first data path, a receipt-processing component generates receipt items based on images of physical receipts that a user captures using a camera. In a second data path, one or more transaction-processing systems forward transaction items to the automation tool upon their capture; the transaction items correspond to electronic records of transactions made by the user. The technique then generates a set of receipt-transaction (R-T) pairings by matching pairs of receipt items and transaction items that describe the same respective transactions. The technique then uses context information to supplement the R-T pairings, and generates a summary document that summarizes transactions made by the user based on the supplemented R-T pairings. In one case, the context information corresponds to calendar information specified in a user's electronic calendar.

Automatically processing a stream of transaction items based on image and calendar information

A system and method for facilitating game action time requirement suspension in an online game are disclosed. Instances of time requirement suspension items may be offered for purchase in an online store associated with the online game. A given time requirement suspension item may be configured to reduce time requirements (e.g., wait-period) for game actions requested by a player during a corresponding time period subsequent to the activation of the instance of the requirement suspension item by the player. The player may activate a purchased instance of the requirement suspension item in the online game to reduce the time requirements for the game actions requested by the player during the time period.

Providing virtual items configured to facilitate temporary time requirement suspension in an online game

Representative embodiments disclose mechanisms to flatten an image comprising at least one curved or bent edge. An image is received from a capture device and a UI is presented that allows a user to define a general vicinity of an item in the image to be flattened. The system analyzes pixels in the general vicinity to identify the highest probability of a corner in each general vicinity. The gradient of pixels between the corners is calculated and pixels scores are calculated based on the gradient. The pixels with the lowest scores between each corner are used as an edge. Smoothing is applied to each edge. Dimensions of the flat representation are calculated and the system maps pixels bounded by the edges and corners to pixels in the flat representation and copies the mapped pixels to the flat representation.

A method and system for facilitating chance-based payment for items in a game. In implementations, the disclosure relates to such systems which can be used in the payment for items in an affiliation based game. A user may be part of an affiliation and wish to contribute to their affiliation and show their loyalty in a non-direct manner. The contribution may be achieved by the user entering into a chance-based selection process such as a draw, where the user selected in the draw is the person that pays for a group virtual item used in the game. The item used in the game may benefit all members of the affiliation, simultaneously or in alternating fashion.
