A roof deck intake vent is provided. The roof deck intake vent includes a first portion connected to a second portion. The first portion is further connected to an upper edge and the second portion further connected to a lower edge. Opposing first and second side walls are connected to the first and second portions. The opposing first and second side walls extend from the upper edge to the lower edge. The first and second side walls form an extension having a lower surface. The first portion, upper edge, and the extension cooperate to form an air intake, such that air entering the roof deck intake vent enters the vent through the lower surface of the extension when the vent is installed on an edge or eave of a roof.

Roof deck intake vent

A roofing system including shingles with different shingle patterns. The roofing system may include a plurality of first shingles having a first two-tab shingle pattern and a plurality of second shingles having a second two-tab shingle pattern. The first shingles including a first tab having a first width and a second tab having a second width, wherein the first width and the second width are substantially equal. The second shingles including a third tab having a third width and a fourth tab having a fourth width, wherein the third width is substantially equal to the first width and the fourth width is about double the second width. The plurality of first shingles and the plurality of second shingles can be formed from a rectangular shingle blank in an interwoven pattern with substantially no scrap or waste material.

Roofing shingle system

Roof systems and related method having a roof deck, a plurality of shingles, and a plurality of fasteners, having a material that partially changes state and displaces into the roof deck material to secure the fasteners and shingles to the roof deck. The shingles can be positioned in an overlapping pattern, and the fasteners can have first portions configured to penetrate into the roof deck and can have at least one material that melts at a threshold temperature. The first portions of the fasteners extend through one or more shingles and penetrate into the roof deck, where the material of the first portion of the fasteners increases in temperature above the threshold temperature, partially changing into a more flowable state, and displaces into voids in the material of the roof deck. Second portions of the fasteners engage the upper surfaces of the shingles to secure the shingles to the roof deck.
