An automated assay system includes a platform and a rotatable coupon removably positioned within or on the platform. The rotatable coupon includes a plurality of discrete tracks, each of the plurality of discrete tracks configured to contain microfluidic volumes. At least one magnet is operatively disposed on the platform, the rotatable coupon, or combinations thereof, and the at least one magnet is configured to generate a magnetic field at a predetermined area of the rotatable coupon. A motor is operatively connected to the rotatable coupon.

A monolithic inkjet printhead is formed using single-side fabrication processes. Printing elements and feed channels are formed by processes working from a top of the die. During formation of the printing elements filler material is applied to the feed channel. Such material is later removed by an anisotropic etch. Such etchant works from the top surface and a side edge of the substrate. The single-side fabrication process is distinguished from fabrication processes that work from a bottom of a die to form the feed channel and fill channels and work from a top of the die to form printing elements.

Method of manufacturing a fluid ejection device with a fluid channel therethrough

One method of fabricating a fluid ejection device comprises forming a heating element on a first surface of a substrate. Adjacent the heating element, a hole is formed through the first surface to define a fill channel. The fill channel is filled with a filler material, and after filled, a fluid chamber is formed over the heating element. The filler material is removed. The fluid chamber is fluidically coupled with the fill channel, and is capable of ejecting fluid heated by the heating element.
