A safety relay configuration system for configuring safety functions to be carried out by a safety relay is provided. The configuration system comprises a number of features that facilitate intuitive and simplified configuration of an industrial safety relay, including but not limited to features that guide the user through the configuration process using an intuitive sequential procedure that provides feedback and prompts based on user interaction, enforce design consistency throughout the configuration project by intelligently limiting user selections, and visually organize configuration and status information in a manner that efficiently utilizes display space and allows the user to quickly evaluate available configuration options.

A single-wire safety system architecture is provided that yields reliable safety device monitoring without the need for dual redundant signal channels. The safety system comprises a safety relay acting as a communications master device and one or more compatible safety input devices connected in series with the safety relay via a single-wire communication circuit. The safety input device farthest from the safety relay on the safety circuit modulates a safety signal with a recognizable pulse pattern that traverses the single-wire safety circuit to the safety relay via the intermediate safety devices. The safety relay maintains safety mode as long as the pulse pattern is received and recognized. In addition to conveying the safety signal, the architecture allows bi-directional communication of initialization, configuration, and diagnostic messages over the single-wire safety channel. The architecture also facilitates rapid initialization of the safety channel using asynchronous sub-link detection and device enumeration.

An industrial-enabled mobile electronic device, such as a personal mobile phone or tablet computer, allows a user to wirelessly interact with industrial devices for a variety of purposes. The mobile electronic device can communicate with an industrial device to read and write configuration settings, read and view log data, send commands to the industrial device, and other such functions. The mobile electronic device can perform various types of analysis on images and video of the industrial device captured by the mobile electronic device, including identifying and translating a model or device number printed on the device, or translating error codes displayed by the industrial device. The mobile electronic device can also retrieve additional information about the industrial device or the device's stored data via interaction with a remote technical support service, and can be used to facilitate dialog with a remote technical support person.

A media server system includes a dispatcher and a set of processors either in the same physical system or in separate physical systems. The dispatcher receives the initial messages of respective session initiation dialogs from sources such as application servers. For each message, the dispatcher selects one of the processors to conduct the session initiation dialog and forwards the message to the selected processor using a port number uniquely associated with the processor and a switch fabric that routes the message to the processor associated with the modified port number. Upon receiving an initial session dialog message from the dispatcher, each processor creates a response message including the processor's port identifier, and sends the response message to the application server that was the source of the initial message. Subsequent messages of the session initiation dialog are sent directly to the selected processor by the application server, bypassing the dispatcher.

A system and method for minimizing adverse affects of network transfer latency on packet data transmission that reduces degradation of a perceived quality of the data transmission. The system includes at least one interface device linking a first computer network to a second computer network. The interface device receives at least one group of packets transmitted across the first network in a buffer, performs packet-based media processing on the packets based on a type of information content of the packets, and transmits the processed packets to the second network. While receiving the group of packets, the interface device determines whether any packets are 'late'. The interface device waits longer for late packets likely to contain active speech (or active music) than late packets likely to contain silence. Further, the interface device waits a fixed time for late packets containing fax data. In the event a maximum waiting time is exceeded, the interface device declares the corresponding late packet 'missing' and drops the missing packet.
