An ambulance cot loading and unloading device which utilizes an elongate guide track configured for mounting to a floor surface of a cargo area on the ambulance. A trolley is supported for movement relative to the guide track and has an elongate boom. The ambulance cot has a powered collapsible and extendable base and a patient support deck mounted on the base. A connection mechanism is provided on the trolley and the ambulance cot which is configured to interconnect and securely hold the ambulance cot on the trolley.

An ambulance cot is disclosed and the ambulance cot having a base frame configured for support on a surface, a litter frame configured for supporting thereon a patient and an elevating mechanism interconnecting the base frame and the litter frame and configured to interconnect the litter frame and the base frame in order to facilitate movement of the base frame and the litter frame toward and away from each other. A control mechanism is provided on the cot which is configured to facilitate the movement of the base frame and the litter frame toward each other and at differing speeds predicated on at least one of whether the base frame is supported on the surface and the litter frame is supported by an external support separate from the elevating mechanism.

An ambulance cot frame securing system for a patient transport vehicle which includes a floor frame adapted to be secured to a floor of the patient transport vehicle. The floor frame has at a first end thereof a fixed angled restraint inclined upwardly and in a direction toward a second end of the floor frame to define an overhang spaced upwardly from the floor frame so as to provide a gap into which is adapted to be received a first part of the cot frame. The floor frame additionally has a releasable latch mechanism adapted to be releasably coupled to a second part of the cot frame so as to hold is the cot frame in a fixed lengthwise location relative to the floor frame. The securement system additionally has a self-activating locking mechanism activatable in response to a sudden burst of either acceleration or deceleration of the patient transport vehicle to additionally securely lock the first part of the cot frame in a fixed position relative to the patient transport vehicle.

An ambulance stretcher having a wheeled base ( ) supported by foldable leg assemblies ( ). Castors ( ) are provided on the leg assemblies for providing improved mobility of the stretcher. The front castors ( ) are selectively locked by a locking mechanism ( ) to either allow the castors to swivel or roll in a single direction. The locking mechanism is accessible on both sides of the stretcher. Activation of the locking mechanism on either side of the frame selectively locks or unlocks both front castors.

The present invention is directed to a stair chair. The stair chair includes a seat assembly mounted to a main frame and configured to pivot about a first pivot axis. A rail assembly having two laterally spaced brackets provided at a lower end of the rail assembly is included. A back wheel is rotatably supported on each bracket for rotation about a common axis of rotation. At least two mounts are provided at a lower end of the main frame, each of which is configured to pivotally connect one of the brackets to the main frame for movement about a second pivot axis. The rail assembly and seat assembly are configured to pivot about their respective pivot axes independent of movement of one another. A first spacing exists between the axis of rotation of the front wheels and the axis of rotation of the back wheels when the rail assembly in a retracted position and a second spacing exists between the axis of rotation of the front wheels and the axis of rotation of the back wheels when the rail assembly in a deployed position.

A support mechanism is provided for supporting the patient litter support for vertical movement relative to the base while being maintained in the generally horizontal orientation. An emergency stretcher for emergency vehicles includes an X-frame litter support mechanism that vertically movably supports a patient litter on a wheeled base. Each of the legs of the litter support mechanism have the capability to expand and contract in length, and a fixed-length link member extends between the base and one of the legs. A releasable locking arrangement can releasably lock the patient litter in a selected vertical position, and can be released only when the patient litter is manually lifted. A gas cylinder which controls the angular position of a pivotally supported upper body support member can move into a recess in a cross member of the patient litter.
