A foldable knife having a handle inlay through which the knife blade can be viewed may include a knife handle having an interior handle liner and at least one outer handle portion on the handle liner. At least one knife handle inlay may be provided in the knife handle. The knife handle inlay may include a walled or ridged inlay structure which extends from the handle liner and has a selected size and shape. An inlay window may extend through the outer handle portion. The inlay window may generally correspond to a size and shape of the inlay structure and the inlay structure extends through the inlay window.

An emissions control system is disclosed. The emissions control system may have a power source that creates a flow of exhaust and a filtering device that receives the flow of exhaust. A first sensor may be located at or upstream of the filtering device, the first sensor being configured to measure a first temperature, and an SCR catalyst may be located downstream of the filtering device. The emissions control system may also have an injector configured to inject a reduction agent into the flow of exhaust in the presence of the SCR catalyst. The emissions control system may further have a controller in communication with the first sensor. The controller may be configured to predict a change in an ability of the SCR catalyst to store reduction agent using a measured change in the first temperature and adjust the injector according to the predicted change in the storage ability of the SCR catalyst.

An emissions control system is disclosed. The emissions control system may have a power source that creates a flow of exhaust, an SCR catalyst situated to receive the flow of exhaust, and an injector configured to inject a reduction agent into the flow of exhaust in the presence of the SCR catalyst. The emissions control system may further have a controller configured to calculate a spatially dependent surface coverage of the reduction agent on the SCR catalyst and substantially stop injection of the reduction agent when the spatially dependent surface coverage of the reduction agent exceeds a maximum surface coverage of the reduction agent at one or more spatial locations.

Various methods and systems for augmenting the amount of NOin the exhaust of an exhaust flow simulation system. These methods and system can be 'combustion' or 'post combustion'. A combustion embodiment injects a nitrogen-containing compound (doping agent) into the burner, so that it mixed and combusted with the fuel.

An emission control system for reducing NOin the exhaust of a diesel engine. A partial oxidation system receives diesel fuel from the engine's fuel tank and partially oxidizes the diesel fuel into hydrogen. The hydrogen is then introduced into the main exhaust line and the hydrogen-enhanced exhaust is delivered to a hydrogen selective catalytic reduction unit, which uses the hydrogen to convert the NOto nitrogen.

A method and system for controlling the temperature of recirculated exhaust gas in an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, such as those used in connection with diesel engines. An EGR loop (which may be either a high pressure loop or a low pressure loop) has a dual-leg segment with an EGR cooler on one leg and an EGR heater on the other leg. By means of a valve, the EGR gas may be diverted to either one leg or the other, thereby providing either cooled or heated EGR gas to the engine.

A method for controlling diesel engine emissions is disclosed. The diesel engine's exhaust system has a NO oxidation catalyst, a diesel particulate filter (DPF), and a lean NO trap (LNT). The DPF is monitored to determine the need for regeneration. The LNT is monitored to determine the need for regeneration or desulfurization. A fuel injector is used to inject fuel upstream of the LNT under certain conditions, and a bypass may be used to bypass exhaust around the oxidation catalyst to provide richer or hotter exhaust to the LNT.

Integrated method for controlling diesel engine emissions in CRT-LNT system

A method for controlling diesel engine emissions is disclosed. The diesel engine's exhaust system has a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and a lean NO trap (LNT). The DPF is a filter and is monitored to determine the need for regeneration. The LNT is monitored to determine the need for regeneration or desulfurization. A fuel injector is used to inject fuel upstream of the LNT under certain conditions, and a bypass may be used to bypass exhaust around the DPF to provide richer or hotter exhaust to the LNT. The sensor outputs and controls for providing the appropriate heat or fuel mix for regeneration and desulfurization may be controlled with enhancements to existing engine control circuitry.

Integrated system for controlling diesel engine emissions

A system is provided for rapidly changing the flow of recirculated exhaust gas to each cylinder of an internal combustion engine operating on diesel fuel or other fuels. The system preferably includes an exhaust gas recirculation line having an exhaust gas recirculation pump along with a reservoir and cooler for storing a desired volume of recirculated exhaust gas. Recirculated exhaust gas is preferably supplied from the reservoir to each cylinder of the associated engine through respective recirculated exhaust gas conduits. A metering valve is preferably disposed within each recirculated exhaust gas conduit immediately adjacent to each cylinder. The metering valves provide uniform distribution of recirculated exhaust gas to the respective cylinders and allow the system to rapidly change the flow of recirculated exhaust gas to each cylinder. The system provides recirculated exhaust gas at a point close to the combustion chamber where it is needed for effective reduction of undesirable NO.sub.x emissions.

The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a cylindrical fuel cell comprising: providing an anode comprising a substantially solid cylindrical porous conductive matrix, said anode having an anode outer surface; intimately contacting a first proton exchange catalyst with said anode; conforming around and in intimate contact with said anode outer surface an inner polymer electrolyte membrane comprising a membrane outer surface and a membrane inner surface, wherein said membrane inner surface defines a tubular compartment and ionically communicates with said first proton exchange catalyst; providing a source of hydrogen gas in fluid communication with said first proton exchange catalyst; and, disposing around and in ionic communication with said membrane outer surface a cathode comprising a catalytically effective amount of a second proton exchange catalyst.
