A data storage system may connect a non-volatile memory to a quarantine module that generates a quarantine strategy in response to a pending data access request to the non-volatile memory. The quarantine strategy can proactively prescribing a plurality of status levels for physical data addresses of the non-volatile memory. A comparison of a volume of errors for the non-volatile memory to a first threshold of the quarantine strategy with the quarantine module may prompt the alteration of a first status level of the plurality of status levels for a first physical data address of the non-volatile memory, as directed by the quarantine strategy.

Data storage system with intelligent error management

Method and apparatus for managing data in a storage device, such as a solid-state drive (SSD). In some embodiments, a data storage device includes a main non-volatile memory (NVM), a host command queue that lists pending host read and host write commands, and a write cache which temporarily stores write data sets pending transfer to the NVM responsive to execution of the associated host write commands in the host command queue. A collision prediction circuit predicts a rate of future collisions involving the cached write data sets. A storage manager directs storage of the write data sets to a first target location responsive to the rate of future collisions being at a first level, and directs storage of the write data sets to a different, second target location responsive to the rate of future collisions being at a different, second level.

Ordering reads to limit collisions in a non-volatile memory (NVM)

A solid-state memory may have many non-individually erasable memory cells arranged into calibration groups with each memory cell in each respective calibration group using a common set of read voltages to sense programmed states. An evaluation circuit of the solid-state memory may be configured to measure at least one read parameter for each calibration group responsive to read operations carried out upon the memory cells in the associated calibration group. An adjustment circuit of the solid-state memory may redistribute the memory cells of an existing calibration group into at least one new calibration group in response to the at least one measured read parameter.

Solid-state memory with intelligent cell calibration

A system for raising and lowering a ceiling fixture featuring a reel box with a cable reel and cable, and a motor connected to the cable reel. The cable extends out of the reel box and attaches to a ceiling fixture. The motor rotates the cable reel to wind and unwind the cable. A hollow female cone is connected below the reel box. The cable passes through the female cone. A male cone is attached to the cable below the female cone. The male cone has is adapted to fit inside the female cone. Electrical contact rings are disposed on the inner surface of the female cone for house wiring and the outer surface of the male cone for fixture wiring. When the male cone is in the female cone, the electrical contact rings operatively connect.

System for raising and lowering ceiling fans and light fixtures

An electronic pin pulling tool has an elongated shank having opposite hook and handle ends. A pin engagement tip extends transversely from the hook end of the shank and has a free end, an opposite shank end, an outer pushing surface facing away from the handle end and an inner pulling surface facing the handle end of the shank. The shank end of the tip is recessed inwardly from the pushing surface by a distance generally equal to the distance between the pushing and pulling surfaces to facilitate insertion of the tip into the open end of an electronic pin with minimal inclination of the shank relative to the pin. To accommodate a particular pin size, the transverse distance from the free end of the tip of the tool to the opposite surface of the shank in the plane of the inner pulling surface is greater than the inside diameter of the lip of the pin and less than the inside diameter of the sleeve of the pin.
