Described herein are methods of preparing poly(alkylene carbonate) polymers comprising an increased ratio of primary hydroxyl end groups to secondary hydroxyl end groups, and compositions thereof.

End-group isomerization of poly(alkylene carbonate) polymers

The present invention encompasses polymer compositions comprising aliphatic polycarbonate chains containing functional groups that increase the polymer's ability to wet or adhere to inorganic materials. In certain embodiments, chain ends of the aliphatic polycarbonates are modified to introduce silicon-containing functional groups, boron-containing functional groups, phosphorous-containing functional groups, sulfonic acid groups or carboxylic acid groups.

Polymer compositions and methods

Urethane-urea-acrylic cast sheet materials are made from a reaction product of components including polyisocyanate compound having at least two isocyanate functional groups and optional polyol (or pre-reacted urethane prepolymer having at least two isocyanate functional groups), curative having at least two amine functional groups, acrylic monomer, and optional multifunctional monomer having a first functional group having an active hydrogen and a second functional group having at least one double bond. The urethane-urea-acrylic cast sheet materials exhibit excellent impact properties and desirable hardness while also maintaining optical properties such as low haze that can be comparable to that of conventional cast acrylic sheet.

Urethane urea acrylic cast sheet materials

The disclosure pertains to amphiphilic block copolymers comprising an aliphatic polycarbonate chain coupled to a hydrophilic polymer. Such amphiphilic polymers may have the formula A-L-B, where A- is a polycarbonate or polyethercarbonate chain having from about 3 to about 500 repeating units, L is a linker moiety and &#x2014;B is a hydrophilic oligomer having from about 4 to about 200 repeating units. Provided copolymers are useful as surfactants capable of emulsifying aqueous solutions and supercritical carbon dioxide. Provided copolymers also have utility as additives for use in enhanced oil recovery methods.

Polycarbonate block copolymers

The present invention encompasses CO-based polycarbonate polyols that do not degrade from the chain ends to form cyclic carbonate. Importantly, the inventive polyol compositions retain &#x2014;OH end group functionality desirable for thermoset applications.

Aliphatic polycarbonate polyol compositions

The present invention provides methods for reducing induction periods in epoxide-COcopolymerizations. In certain embodiments, the methods include the step of contacting an epoxide with COin the presence of two catalysts: an epoxide hydrolysis catalyst and an epoxide COcopolymerization catalyst. In another aspect, the invention provides catalyst compositions comprising a mixture of an epoxide hydrolysis catalyst and an epoxide COcopolymerization catalyst.

Methods for polymer synthesis

The present invention encompasses surface active agents useful in liquid or supercritical COapplications. The surface active agents comprise compounds containing a hydrocarbon segment and an aliphatic polycarbonate segment: The invention also provides methods of making the surface active agents and of using them in supercritical COapplications.
