An audio device with a body configured to be worn on or abutting an outer ear of a user, wherein the body is configured to contact at least one of the outer ear and the portion of the head that abuts the outer ear, at two separate spaced contact locations, and wherein the body is compliant at a body portion that defines one of the contact locations. The device also has an acoustic module carried by the body and configured to locate a sound-emitting opening anteriorly of and proximate the user's ear canal opening when the body is worn on or abutting the ear of the user.

An electro-acoustic driver includes a diaphragm formed of a compliant material, a bobbin configured to hold a winding of an electrical conductor and a housing having a housing axis that is substantially coaxial with the bobbin. The diaphragm is fixed to one end of the housing and has a substantially planar shape when the diaphragm is at rest. A stiffening element is fixed to an inner region of a surface of the diaphragm. A motion of the bobbin along a bobbin axis generates a movement of the inner region of the diaphragm to thereby generate an acoustic signal that propagates from the diaphragm.

A loudspeaker includes an acoustic diaphragm, an oscillatory force source, a lever coupling the oscillatory force source to the acoustic diaphragm, and a pivot coupled to the lever such that the lever moves in an arcuate path about the pivot when the oscillatory force source applies a force to the lever. The pivot includes at least one torsion bushing. The at least one torsion bushing includes a first member, a second member coupled to the lever and movable relative to the first member, and an elastomeric member coupling the first member to the second member. Either the first member or the second member is coupled to and moves with the lever. An outer surface of the elastomeric member is coupled to the second member via mechanical compression.

Bushings constrained by compression in levered apparatus

An apparatus includes a lamination stack for a motor stator. The lamination stack comprises a plurality of conductive laminates. The laminates are coupled to each other in a stacking direction along a stacking axis. Each laminate comprises a base, a plurality of fins extending from a first side of the base, a plurality of spacings between the fins, a row of teeth extending from a second side of the base opposite the first side, each tooth constructed and arranged to communicate with windings of a conductive coil, and a plurality of spacings between the teeth. The lamination stack also comprises a plurality of first channels formed from the spacings between the fins and a plurality of second channels formed from the spacings between the teeth. The first and second channels extend along the stacking axis.

Convection cooling system for motors

An electro-acoustic transducer is provided that comprises a diaphragm and a magnet assembly comprising a magnet and a back plate. The back plate comprises at least one first vent. The diaphragm generates sound during a movement of the diaphragm relative to the back plate. The transducer further comprises a printed circuit board comprising at least one second vent and a cavity between the printed circuit board and the back plate that separates the at least one first vent from the at least one second vent.

Microspeaker acoustical resistance assembly

An electro-acoustic transducer includes a cone, a voice coil connected to the cone, and magnetic circuit that defines a gap within which the voice coil is disposed. The magnetic circuit is configured for creating magnetic flux across the gap for the voice coil to interact with, thereby to drive motion of the cone. A conductor is included for providing an input signal to the voice coil. A first portion of the conductor is fixedly secured to the magnetic circuit such that the first portion of the conductor does not move relative to the magnetic circuit while the cone is in motion.

An acoustic device includes a diaphragm, a frame, and a suspension element that couples the diaphragm to the frame such that the diaphragm is movable in a reciprocating manner relative to the frame. The suspension element includes a first surround element and a second surround element that are separated at respective outer edges by a first distance and separated at respective inner edges by a second distance. The first distance and the second distance are different.

In one arrangement, a motor assembly includes a housing defining a housing chamber, a stator disposed within the housing chamber, and a rotor assembly disposed within the housing chamber. The rotor assembly includes a spindle housing defining a spindle housing chamber extending along a longitudinal axis of the spindle housing and a set of magnets disposed about an outer periphery of the spindle housing and in proximity to the stator. The rotor assembly includes a ball nut cartridge disposed within the spindle housing chamber of the spindle housing and a securing mechanism configured to secure the ball nut cartridge to the spindle housing.
