Switchless sensing for electronic devices used with deterrent devices

An example tracking signal device comprises a housing and a light source disposed within the housing. A window is defined within the housing optically downstream of the light source. The device further comprises a sensor configured to receive a first beam of radiation and a controller operably coupled to (i) the light source and (ii) the sensor. The controller is configured to control the light source to emit a second beam of radiation based at least in part on receipt of the first beam of radiation by the sensor.

Tracking beacon system

A system for use in identifying a user includes a portable emitter transported with the user. The emitter includes a quantum cascade laser configured to emit a thermal beam identifying a location of the user in response to a command, the thermal beam having a wavelength between approximately 2 &#x3bc;m and approximately 30 &#x3bc;m.

Marking system and method

A beacon system includes a controller, a laser module operably connected to the controller, and at least one sensor operably connected to the controller. In such a system, the controller is configured to receive a signal from the at least one sensor, and to determine whether a response to the signal is required.

Flexible beacon system

A system for use in identifying one of an unmanned ground vehicle and an unmanned aerial vehicle includes a signal emitter associated with the unmanned vehicle. The signal emitter includes at least one quantum cascade laser. The signal emitter emits a signal having a wavelength between approximately 2 &#x3bc;m and approximately 30 &#x3bc;m, and the signal is detectable to identify the unmanned vehicle as friendly at a distance from the signal emitter greater than approximately 1 meter.

System and method for friend or foe identification

A system for interacting with a thermal detector includes at least one unmanned aerial vehicle and a sensor mounted to the at least one unmanned aerial vehicle. The sensor is configured to determine the presence of a component of the thermal detector and to generate a signal indicative of the presence of the component. The system also includes a beam emitter mounted to the at least one unmanned vehicle and in communication with the sensor. The beam emitter includes a beam source configured to direct a beam of thermal radiation to the thermal detector in response to the signal from the sensor.

Systems and methods for interaction with thermal detectors

Aiming systems are provided for use with a particle projection device. Such aiming systems may have a housing mountable to the particle projection device for movement therewith, a window defining a field of view when in a first orientation and a second field of view when in a second orientation. A first reticle image is visible in the window when the housing and particle projection device are at the first orientation with the first reticle image representative of a projection path of the particles in the first field of view. A second reticle image is visible in the window when the housing and particle projection device are at the second orientation with the second reticle image being representative of a projection path of the particles in the second field of view.

Adaptive particle projection path indicator

A handheld target marker is provided, wherein the target marker includes a housing retaining a gas laser, a collimating or focusing lens, a driver and a power supply. The laser produces a thermal infrared beam which can be selectively directed to impinge upon a target. The impinging beam is viewable by a thermal imager. The handheld target marker operates at ambient temperatures and incorporates the driver and power supply necessary for operation of the laser, wherein the beam can be pulsed for enhancing imaging on the thermal imager.
