The present invention is directed to an electrodepositable coating composition comprising an electrodepositable binder comprising an ionic salt group-containing film-forming polymer comprising active hydrogen functional groups, and a blocked polyisocyanate curing agent; a solubilized bismuth catalyst; and a guanidine; wherein the electrodepositable coating composition has a weight ratio of bismuth metal from the solubilized bismuth catalyst to guanidine of from 1.00:0.071 to 1.0:2.1 and/or a molar ratio of bismuth metal to guanidine of from 1.0:0.25 to 1.0:3.0. Also disclosed are methods of treating electrodepositable coating compositions, methods for making electrodepositable coating compositions, systems for coating a metal substrate, coatings, coated substrates, and methods of coating a substrate.

Phosphate resistant electrodepositable coating compositions

The present invention is directed to a phosphated epoxy resin comprising at least one terminal group comprising a phosphorous atom covalently bonded to the resin by a carbon-phosphorous bond or by a phosphoester linkage; and at least one carbamate functional group. The present invention is also directed towards aqueous resinous dispersions comprising the phosphated epoxy resin, methods of coating a substrate, coated substrates, and methods of making a phosphated epoxy resin.

Carbamate functional monomers and polymers and use thereof

Methods for producing 1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene using a disubstituted carbodiimide, dipropylene triamine and optionally an ethereal solvent and/or an alcohol are disclosed. Use of 1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene produced by this method in an electrodepositable coating composition, and electrophoretic deposition of such coating onto a substrate to form a coated substrate, are also disclosed.
