A system of coating a component or part of a vehicle, device, or an apparatus with an abrasive resistant material (ARM) in order to increase the component or part's life cycle. A welding system can be used to deposit ARM between a lead electrode and a trail electrode and also deposit ARM behind the trail electrode. The welding system can also be used to deposit ARM that includes a lead electrode depositing the steel material and a trailing electrode that delivers an alloying material.

A seal ring for a seal assembly includes a body and a seal flange. The body is generally cylindrical and extends along a longitudinal axis between a load end and a seal end. The seal flange is disposed at the seal end of the cylindrical body. The seal flange circumscribes the body and projects radially from the body to a distal perimeter of the seal flange. The seal flange includes a sealing face which is annular and disposed adjacent the distal perimeter. The seal ring is made from an alloy that includes between 8 percent and 13 percent by weight of iron, between 2 percent and 3 percent by weight of silicon, between 13 percent and 14 percent by weight of chromium, and at least 65 percent by weight of nickel.

A surface covering composition of abrasion resistant character adapted for disposition in overlying bonded relation to a metal substrate. The surface covering composition includes metal carbide particles within a metal matrix at a packing factor of not less than about 0.6. Not less than about 40 percent by weight of the metal carbide particles are characterized by an effective diameter in the range of +14-32 mesh prior to introduction to the metal matrix. Not less than about 3 percent by weight of the metal carbide particles are characterized by an effective diameter of +60 mesh prior to introduction to the metal matrix.

Abrasion resistant composition

A track shoe for a track-type vehicle. The track shoe includes a base plate and a grouser projecting away from the base plate. A capping surface structure of substantially horseshoe shaped cross-section is disposed across a distal portion of the grouser. The capping surface structure covers portions of a distal edge surface and adjacent lateral surfaces. The capping surface structure is formed from an material characterized by enhanced wear resistance relative to portions of the grouser underlying the capping surface structure.
