Systems and methods are disclosed that include providing a valve suitable for maintaining a seal and preventing fluid flow through the valve at cryogenic temperatures. The valve includes a valve body having a longitudinal axis along a flow path through the valve, a ball selectively rotatable within the valve body to selectively allow fluid flow through the valve, a seat formed within the valve body and comprising a cavity having an angled wall, and a seat insert at least partially disposed within the cavity and having a first sealing surface that forms a first sealing interface with the ball to prevent leakage through a first leakage path and a second sealing surface that forms a second sealing interface with the angled wall to prevent leakage through a second leakage path when the ball valve is selectively rotated to prevent fluid flow through the valve.

Seat insert in a ball valve for cryogenic applications

A stem packing assembly including a first annular member defining a central axis, a second annular member defining a central axis coaxial with the central axis of the first annular member, and an annular energizing member defining a central axis coaxial with the central axis of the first annular member. In an embodiment, the stem packing assembly can have a leakage rate according to ISO 15848-1 of less than 1&#xd7;10mgsmfor at least 500 cycles at 160&#xb0; C., and less than 1&#xd7;10mgsmfor at least 500 cycles at &#x2212;46&#xb0; C. In another embodiment, the first annular member can include a PAEK, the second annular member can include a PTFE, and the annular energizing member at least partially includes a PTFE.

Valve and choke stem packing assemblies

A seal ring includes a weld and a thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic material has a weld elongation-at-break of at least 3%. The thermoplastic material can have a glass transition temperature of at least 100&#xb0; C. The thermoplastic material with the weld can have a weld elongation-at-break of at least 3%. The seal ring can have a circumference of at least 0.62 meters. The seal ring can have a coefficient of friction of not greater than 0.45.
