A subject-matter of the invention is a composition comprising a) at least one ortho-diphenol derivative, b) at least one specific metal derivative and c) at least one basifying agent, a method for dyeing keratinous fibers by treatment of the said fibers using the ingredients a), b) et c) and the use thereof for dyeing keratinous fibers. This hair dyeing method makes it possible to obtain better colorations which are more uniform, chromatic and lasting and which do not detrimentally affect the cosmetic properties of the keratinous fibers, starting from an extract of ortho-diphenols which are in particular natural.

The subject of the invention is a composition for dyeing keratin fibers, comprising at least one 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene derivative and at least one basifying agent other than aqueous ammonia; the use of the composition for hair dyeing and also the use of the composition in a dyeing process for keratin fibers. The composition according to the invention makes it possible to dye keratin fibers under mild oxidizing conditions even without using an oxidation base and an aromatic amine, while at the same time covering a broad color range with 1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene derivatives. The observed dyeing under oxidizing conditions operates under mild conditions of oxidation and/or basifying agent, in particular in the air, and does not produce any unpleasant odor.

The invention relates to the dyeing of keratin fibers using azomethine direct dyes or reduced precursors of azomethine direct dyes of formula (I) and (II) obtained from 2-amino-3-hydroxypyridine. The invention relates to a dye composition comprising at least one azomethine direct dye or a reduced precursor of an azomethine direct dye, to a process for dyeing keratin fibers, using the said composition, and to their uses in the dyeing of keratin fibers. This composition allows a particularly stable and fast coloration to be obtained.

The invention relates to the dyeing of keratinous fibres using azomethine direct dyes of formula (I) or reduced precursors of azomethine direct dyes of formula (II) obtained from 2-chloro-3-amino-6-methylphenol. A subject-matter of the invention is a dyeing composition comprising at least one chlorinated azomethine direct dye or one reduced precursor of a chlorinated azomethine direct dye, a method for dyeing keratinous fibres which employs the said composition and their uses in the dyeing of keratinous fibres. This composition makes it possible to obtain a particularly stable and consistent colouring.
