The present invention is related to a method of digitally compensating distortions of rays of a light beam in tomography-based additive manufacturing, wherein said tomography-based additive manufacturing involves projecting light patterns from multiple angles into a container () comprising photoresponsive material, by simulating the path of the light rays through the container () and the photoresponsive material; and digitally compensating the light projections based on the simulated path of the light rays, so as to obtain modified light projections. The present invention is also related to a method and apparatus for preparing an object () in tomography-based additive manufacturing, employing said distortion compensation method.

Disclosed herein are devices and methods to provide a holographic optical element (HOE) having a modified shape and a structural attribute. At least one wavefront may be used to cause a first structure change in a material, used for the HOE, in a first shape. The material used for the HOE may be changed from the first shape to the modified shape to cause a second structure change in the material. The structural attribute in the material may be provided from a combination of the first structure change and the second structure change.

Disclosed herein are devices and methods to provide multiple eyeboxes from multiple input pupils. In particular, a projection system can direct light from multiple input pupils to a holographic optical element. The light of each of the input pupils having light beams of different wavelengths. Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for processing holographic recording media. Some embodiments are particularly directed to processing a raw holographic recording medium into an apodized holographic recording medium. For example, a raw holographic recording medium may include a plurality of photosensitive molecules uniformly distributed throughout that are able to record an interference pattern to create a hologram. However, when a photosensitive molecule is desensitized, such as by exposure to incoherent light, its photosensitivity is lost and the molecule may no longer be able to record an interference pattern of coherent light. Various embodiments described herein may include an apodized holographic recording medium that has been exposed to incoherent light in a manner to desensitize some photosensitive molecules therein such that the remaining photosensitive molecules have a non-uniform distribution.

Disclosed herein are devices and methods to provide a display including a projection system and a removable lenses including a holographic optical element to receive light and reflect the light to an exit pupil. Each of the removable lenses may comprise a holographic optical element in a different position of the lens to change the position of the exit pupil. The projection system may project an image onto the holographic optical element to project the image to the exit pupil.
