Wireless multi-stage completions for providing power to and telemetry communication with downhole device(s) are provided. A power generation system can be disposed along a production string to power downhole devices. The power generation system can be driven by annulus fluid flow or production fluid flow and converts the fluid flow to electrical energy. The power generation system can be retrievably disposed in a side pocket mandrel.

Power generation for multi-stage wireless completions

A technique facilitates mitigation of shock loads. Subterranean communication systems may comprise components susceptible to various shock loads. A shock mitigation system is physically coupled with the subterranean communication system to mitigate such shock loads. The shock mitigation system comprises components selected to enable reduction of various effects of shock loads, e.g. shock loads resulting from perforating procedures, which could otherwise be detrimental to continued operation of the subterranean communication system.

Wireless acoustic communication apparatus and related methods are disclosed herein. An example apparatus includes a first rod and a second rod. The first rod and the second rod are to form a rod string. The example apparatus includes a first acoustic repeater mechanically coupled to the first rod. The first acoustic repeater is to communicate with a second acoustic repeater to convey data via the rod string. The second acoustic repeater is to receive the data from a first tool.

Wireless acoustic communication apparatus and related methods

A clamp assembly for connecting at least two downhole tools to a section of tubing, the clamp assembly having a first clamp part and a second clamp part. The first and second clamp parts having ends, sides, and inner and outer surfaces extending between the sides. A first clamp part end has at least two mechanical connections defining ports for receiving and securing downhole tools, wherein one of the ports is a read-out port. A hinge assembly connects the first clamp part to the second clamp part and is configured to permit the first clamp part and the second clamp part to be moved to a closed position and an open position. A fastener connects clamp sides when the first clamp part and the second clamp part are in the closed position. When in a closed position, the first and second inner clamp surfaces grip the exterior surface of the tubing.

Junction box to secure and electronically connect downhole tools

An acoustic transceiver assembly including a housing, an oscillator, and at least one membrane. The housing has at least one inner wall defining a cavity. The housing also has a first end and a second end defining an axis of the acoustic transceiver assembly. The oscillator is provided in the cavity. The oscillator is provided with a transducer element, and a backing mass acoustically coupled to the transducer element. The at least one membrane extends outward from the backing mass to support at least the backing mass within the cavity. The at least one membrane is flexible in an axial direction parallel to the axis of the acoustic transceiver assembly to permit the backing mass to oscillate in the axial direction, and rigid in a transverse direction to restrict lateral movement of the backing mass relative to the housing.

A junction box is disclosed. The junction box is made of a body member defining a first port and a second port, the first port adapted to receive a first portion of a first downhole tool, and the second port adapted to receive a second portion of a second downhole tool, the body member defining an electric chamber intersecting the first port and the second port within the body member; a first mechanical connection on the first port for securing the first downhole tool; a second mechanical connection on the second port for securing the second downhole tool; a first electric connector installed on the first port; a second electric connector installed on the second port; and electric wiring positioned within the electric chamber and connected to the first electric connector and the second electric connector to couple the first electric connector and the second electric connector.

A subsea installation kit is described. The kit is provided with a subsea tree, a plurality of tubing sections, a plurality of acoustic repeaters and a mechanical filter. The subsea tree is configured to be coupled to a subsea well having a wellbore. The tubing sections are configured to be connected together to form a tubing string extending from above the tree into the wellbore. The acoustic repeaters are configured to be attached to the tubing string in a spaced apart manner. One of the acoustic repeaters is a last acoustic repeater configured to be attached to the tubing string within or above the tree. The mechanical filter is configured to be connected into the tubing string and form a part of the tubing string above the last acoustic repeater, the mechanical filter configured to cause an attenuation to acoustic signals propagating in the tubing string above the tree.

A method and system are disclosed herein relating to transmitting data within a borehole. The method and system include having a transmitter disposed at a first location within the borehole and configured to generate a first signal, and more than one receiver and/or repeater disposed at a second location within the borehole. The receivers and/or repeaters are configured to receive the first signal, and further are configured to communicate with each other.

Downhole data transmission system

A clamp assembly is disclosed. The clamp assembly is made with a first clamp part, a second clamp part, a hinge assembly and a fastener. The first clamp part has at least one connection capable of receiving and securing the at least one downhole tool. The first clamp part also has a first inner clamp surface. The second clamp part has a second inner clamp surface extending between the third side and the fourth side. The hinge assembly connects a first side of the first clamp part to a third side of the second clamp part and is configured to permit the first clamp part and the second clamp part to be moved to a closed position and an open position to receive the tubing.

Self-tightening clamps to secure tools along the exterior diameter of a tubing

An acoustic transceiver assembly including a housing, an oscillator, and a blocking element. The housing has at least one inner wall defining a cavity. The cavity has a first end and a second end defining an axis of said acoustic transceiver assembly. The oscillator is provided in said cavity. The oscillator is provided with a transducer element, and a backing mass positioned adjacent to the transducer element. A blocking element is positioned inside the cavity and adjacent to the oscillator. The blocking element is adapted to restrain a portion of said backing mass at a first pressure to thereby restrain the backing mass from lateral movement relative to the axis of the acoustic transceiver assembly. The blocking element is also adapted to release the backing mass at a second pressure.

The invention discloses an apparatus () comprising: a setting section () surrounded by a first sleeve (), said first sleeve being expandable and impermeable to a material; an inflating means () for inflating said first sleeve, said inflating means ensuring that the first sleeve can be in contact with a first zone () of a tube () which is permeable to said material, so that said first zone of said tube becomes impermeable to said material; and further comprising a second sleeve portion () partially permeable to said material on a second zone (A') and attached to said first sleeve so that: a path () is provided between said first sleeve and said second sleeve portion and so that, when the first sleeve is inflated the second zone can be in contact with said tube allowing the material to flow in the path and through the second zone. Also, the invention discloses the associated method for treatment of a near zone and/or a far zone of a well with the disclosed apparatus.

Method and apparatus to cement a perforated casing

A method of and apparatus for treating a zone in a well is disclosed. A tube that is permeable to a material is inserted into a wellbore, creating an annulus inside the wellbore. Two zones&#x2014;the annular region and the formation surrounding the wellbore&#x2014;may be treated. The method comprises the following steps. (1) A setting section surrounded by a sleeve is placed inside the tube near the zone to treat, the sleeve being expandable and impermeable to the material. (2) The sleeve is inflated inside the tube near the zone to treat, ensuring that a first zone of the tube is impermeable to the material, but leaving a second zone permeable to the material. (3) A treatment fluid is pumped to the zone to treat, the treatment fluid passing into the annulus via the second zone. (4) The zone to treat is treated with the treatment fluid.
