A method and system for centralized packet processing is disclosed. The method includes transferring a packet received at a port interface of a network device to an uplink interface of the network device, and sending the packet to an uplink from the uplink interface. The transferring and the sending are performed irrespective of a destination of the packet.

Network device architecture for centralized packet processing

A network device architecture and method for centralized packet processing is disclosed. The network device architecture's operation includes receiving a packet from a lower-layer network device at an upper-layer network device and performing packet processing on the packet. The packet processing includes lower-layer protocol processing and upper-layer protocol processing. The packet is received irrespective of a destination of the packet.

A self-adaptable transmission line (SATL) according to the present invention is implemented as a single signal path coupled between an SATL transmitter and an SATL receiver. The SATL transmitter controls the process of transmission in an SATL architecture. Data to be sent by the SATL transmitter are first encoded to the appropriate symbol before being serialized and transmitted on the SATL. A symbol transfer starts with an event known as a start-of-symbol (SOS) event, which can be, for example, a low-to-high transition. The SATL receiver samples and deserializes the incoming bitstream, and then decodes the symbol thus received. Upon detection of an SOS by the SATL receiver, the SATL receiver's logic is reset to its initial state, ready to receive the next symbol.

Serial self-adaptable transmission line

Techniques for performing multistage processing with feedback include a multi-stage feedback processor comprising a first plurality of processing stages connected in series. A feedback channel connects a last stage to one of the other stages. Each processing stage is configured to process one block of data from a data stream during one processing cycle. A parallel input queue includes a second plurality of input queues connected in parallel to the first stage. The parallel input queue directs a block to the first stage alternately from each of a third plurality of data streams. In an embodiment, the number of data streams is no greater than the number of input queues. This arrangement significantly improves throughput for multistage processing with feedback. The arrangement is suitable for encryption and decryption of network traffic using block-based symmetric ciphers.

Method and apparatus for multi-session time-slot multiplexing

A method and apparatus for processing incomplete SSL/TLS records is disclosed. Typical processing of encrypted and authenticated SSL/TLS records involves reconstructing the entire record after if has been segmented by a transport layer in order to be sent over a networked connection. This creates a significant performance bottleneck. The disclosed invention takes the truncated records as they arrive and creates block-aligned segments (truncated records), coupled with residue left to transfer between an arriving segment and the previously block-aligned segment, which allows continuous processing of the encrypted partial records.
