A device is disclosed for compressing data contained in input frames to be compressed constituted of stream frames defining portions of TRAU and signaling frames that have to be transmitted within a communication network and each of which is constituted of at least a header containing control data representative at least of the type of stream frame and where applicable payload data, certain types containing critical and/or non-critical data. The device analyzes each TRAU or signaling frame header contained in successively received input frames in order to determine its type and generates periodically compressed frames to be transmitted that are divided into first and second sections of variable size. The first section contains critical data compressed synchronously and the second section contains non-critical data compressed asynchronously.

Layer 2 compression/decompression for mixed synchronous/asynchronous transmission of data frames within a communication network

A telecommunication system in which a plurality of terminals communicate with a base station or a connection station and a management unit determines the allocation of resources for calls from each terminal to the connection station. At least some of the terminals include a plurality of connections. Calls are effected by means of cells or packets. The allocation of resources is determined cell by cell or packet by packet in each connection. The management unit allocates communication resources to each terminal according to the total number of cells or packets waiting in each terminal and a weighting coefficient allocated to each terminal. The allocation of resources by the management unit is independent of the number of connections of each terminal. Each terminal allocates resources to each connection according to the overall resources allocated to it by the management unit and a weighting coefficient allocated to each connection of the terminal.

Telecommunication system in which each terminal includes a plurality of connections

The invention relates in particular to a TDMA transmission system including transmitters synchronized to a single receiver, each of the transmitters being able to transmit to the receiver on a given carrier frequency bursts with lengths which are all multiples of that of a unit burst including a guard time, the unit bursts including at least one guard time and the receiver being adapted to receive simultaneously bursts from different transmitters. According to the invention, each transmitter includes means for inserting a filler sequence into each burst to be transmitted at each location of the burst that is likely to correspond to a guard time in a burst received simultaneously on a different carrier frequency. The invention reduces the harmful effects of interference if the time of reception of the guard time of a burst on a first carrier frequency corresponds to the time of reception of information symbols in another burst received simultaneously on another carrier frequency.
