A method is intended for automatically configuring address(es) between eNBs (NBi) of an LTE access network. This method comprises i) transmitting a chosen message to at least one Mobility Management Entity (MME) of a core network connected to the LTE access network, this chosen message including at least one transport layer address of a first eNB (NB) and/or authentication and/or security data of this first eNB (NB) for connection to the latter, and ii) relaying within a downlink message an identifier of this first eNB (NB) and the at least one transport layer address and/or the authentication and/or security data for the connection of this first eNB (NB) to a set of at least one chosen eNB (NBi).

A method is provided of registering a mobile terminal in an area of overlapping cell coverage by first and second networks for wireless mobile telecommunications. The networks are of different types. The method comprises: storing an identifier of the mobile terminal; storing in a controller a first record of in which cell or group of cells the mobile terminal is located in the first network and a second record of in which cell or group of cells the mobile terminal is located in the second network; and providing the mobile terminal with information of both records and said identifier.

Registering a mobile terminal in an area of overlapping cell coverage by first and second networks

In a method for transferring information between wireless networks of different technology types, a node in the first network receives configuration information associated with a plurality of nodes of the second network, the information including identifying information for radio access controllers associated with neighboring cells of the second technology type. After it has received the configuration information, the node in the first network sends the identifying information to a plurality of access nodes in the first network via which mobile devices access the first network. The invention is particularly, but not exclusively, applicable where the first network is in accordance with LTE and the second one with UMTS, and the information includes RNC-ids for use in handover from the LTE to the UMTS network.
