A subject of the invention is a process for surfacing or resurfacing a metal part by laser-assisted deposition of a filler material in order to produce an abradable coating of the part, the process being characterized in that the filler material is an iron-based powder comprising vanadium, chromium, nickel, boron, silicon and carbon, in that the laser has an operational wavelength ranging from 900 nm to 1100 nm and in that it comprises the irradiation of the part by a laser beam such that the specific energy (SE) varies from 5 J/mg to 10 J/mg and such that the linear density (LD) varies from 25 mg/mm to 55 mg/mm. Another subject of the invention is the surfaced or resurfaced metal part. Another subject of the invention is a pre-alloy in iron-based powder form, comprising vanadium, chromium, nickel, boron, silicon and carbon.

Surfacing process, surfaced or resurfaced metal part

A method for fabricating a part by selective melting or sintering of powder beds by high energy beam, the method including a) providing a material in the form of powder particles; b) depositing a first powder layer on a support; c) scanning a region of the first layer with the beam to heat the powder locally to a temperature higher than the powder sintering temperature, such that the powder particles as melted or sintered form a first single-piece element; d) depositing a second powder layer on the first powder layer; e) scanning a region of the second layer with the beam to heat the powder to a temperature higher than the powder sintering temperature, so that the particles of powder as sintered or melted form a second single-piece element; and f) repeating d) and e) for each new powder layer laid over a preceding layer until the part is formed.

Method for the additive manufacturing of a part by selective melting or selective sintering of optimized-compactness powder beds using a high energy beam

A method of fabricating a part includes: a) supplying powder particles; b) melting a first quantity of power with a beam and forming, on a support, a first pool including the melted powder and a portion of the support; c) forming a second pool by melting a second quantity of powder on the support; d) repeating c) to form a first layer; e) heating an [n]quantity of the powder, and forming an [n]pool above the first layer; f) heating an [n+1]quantity of the powder, and forming an [n+1]pool downstream from the [n]pool above the first layer; g) repeating f) to form a second layer above the first layer; and h) repeating e) to g) until the part is constructed. The powder particles reaching each pool are at a temperature well below the pool temperature.

Method for manufacturing a part by melting powder, the powder particles reaching the bath in a cold state

A method of fabricating parts out of metallic, intermetallic, ceramic, ceramic matrix composite, or metal matrix composite material with discontinuous reinforcement, includes melting or sintering powder particles by means of a high-energy beam. The powder used is a single powder of particles that present sphericity lying in the range 0.8 to 1.0 and of form factor lying in the range 1 to &#x221a;2, each powder particle presenting substantially identical mean composition, and the grain size distribution of the particles of the powder is narrowed around the mean diameter value d50% in such a manner that: (d90%&#x2212;d50%)/d50%&#x2264;0.66; and (d50%&#x2212;d10%)/d50%&#x2264;0.33; with a 'span': (d90%&#x2212;d10%)/d50%&#x2264;1.00.

Process for additive manufacturing of parts by melting or sintering particles of powder(s) using a high-energy beam with powders adapted to the targeted process/material pair

A process is presented which produces at least one block of dense material constituted by hard particles dispersed in a binder phase, it being possible for the dense material to be enriched locally with binder phase by imbibition. The process includes bringing at least one imbibition area of a surface of the block, preferably coated with a coating material, into contact with an imbibiting material which locally enriches the block with binder phase. The block in contact with the imbibiting material is then subjected to a suitable thermal cycle constituted by heating, temperature maintenance and cooling. This serves to bring some or all of the imbibiting material and the binder phase of the block into the liquid state in such a manner that the enrichment with binder phase takes place solely through the imbibition area. The block is used in connection with the building of a drill bit or tool.

Process for the production of an element comprising at least one block of dense material constituted by hard particles dispersed in a binder phase: application to cutting or drilling tools

A block of dense material is made up of hard particles, of the same or different nature, dispersed in a binder phase. The material has a solidus temperature Tabove which the binder phase is liquid. There is deposited on at least a portion of the surface of the block of dense material an active coating composed of a material capable of reacting chemically with the dense material when the assembly is heated to beyond a minimum reaction temperature T. The block coated with the active coating is subjected to a heat treatment comprising heating, then maintenance for a time tat a maintenance temperature Tgreater than or equal to the minimum reaction temperature T, followed by cooling to ambient temperature.

A method for detecting and optionally a method for quantifying drilling anomalies in a metal part. The drilling method includes determining a value set of at least one of the two following parameters, depending on the time: the penetration axial stress of a drill bit into the metal part and the torque generated during at least one portion part of the drilling.
