Method for scaling channel of an image

For compressing a video signal, a local multiscale transform is applied to a frame of the video signal to obtain coefficient blocks. The coefficients of each block are distributed into a plurality of coefficient groups, and for at least one of the groups, a common exponent is determined for encoding the coefficients of the group, and respective mantissas are determined for quantizing the coefficients of the group in combination with the common exponent. Coding data including each exponent determined for a coefficient group and the mantissas quantizing the coefficients of the group in combination with this exponent are stored in an external frame buffer.

The method comprises for a pixel of an output grid which is not on an input grid on which pixel values are received in an input signal: determining a loss value for each of a plurality of candidate interpolators by analyzing the pixel values of the input grid along a direction associated with the candidate interpolator; selecting at least one interpolator by minimizing the loss value; and determining an output pixel value. At least two interpolation modes are provided, including: a first mode in which one interpolator is selected and the output pixel value is determined as an interpolated value obtained by applying locally the selected interpolator to pixel values of the input grid; and a second mode in which more than one interpolator is selected and the output pixel value is determined as a weighted sum of a plurality of interpolated values obtained by applying locally the selected interpolators.

The method comprises receiving a component of an image, computing a wavelets decomposition of the received component into wavelet coefficients, determining at least three subsets of wavelets coefficients based on a first threshold, a second threshold and computed wavelet coefficients, modifying the determined at least three subsets by applying at least a sharpening transformation on wavelet coefficients of at least one subset in said at least three subsets, recombining the at least three subsets into final wavelet coefficients, and reconstructing a new component based on the final wavelet coefficients.

Method for enhancing local contrast of an image

For scaling an input image into an output image, the method comprises, for a point of the output sampling grid which is not in the input sampling grid: calculating a plurality of interpolated pixel values by applying respective interpolators; determining respective loss values associated with the interpolated pixel values; and providing a pixel value of the output image using at least one of the interpolated pixel values selected by minimizing the loss value. Two-dimensional super resolution scaling

A method for determining noise levels in a subband of an image. The method comprises receiving the subband of the image, defining block regions in at least two space domains of the subband, for each defined block region, identifying first wavelet coefficients associated with coordinate values in the at least two space domains in the defined block region, computing a correlation matrix between identified wavelet coefficients to determine the correlation between first wavelet coefficients according to the at least one color domain, computing second wavelet coefficients, the computation of second wavelet coefficients being based on the correlation matrix and the first wavelet coefficients, computing at least one noise level, the noise level computation being based on at least one second wavelet coefficient and providing the at least one noise level.

A method for scaling a first channel of an image. The method comprises computing a low resolution second channel of the image based on a transformation of the second channel with a transformation function used to transform a high resolution channel into a low resolution channel; computing a correlation function between the low resolution second channel and the first channel; determining a predicted second channel having the high resolution from the low resolution second channel according to a prediction method; computing a high-pass second channel based on the difference between the second channel and the predicted second channel and based on the correlation function; and determining a predicted first channel having the high resolution from the first channel according to the prediction method.

When analyzing an image signal having pixel values defined on a sampling grid, the method detects at least one direction of regularity of the image signal in relation to a pixel of the sampling grid. This detection comprises computing a respective loss value associated with at least one direction in a set of directions, and selecting at least one direction of regularity by minimizing the loss value. The loss value associated with a direction (u, v), where u is a horizontal coordinate and v a vertical coordinate, has an axial loss component measuring variations of the pixel values in at least one linear array of pixels. This linear array is a horizontal array if |u/v|&#x3e;1 and a vertical array if |u/v|&#x3c;1.

Method for detecting directions of regularity in a two-dimensional image

Input pixel values associated with input pixel positions having a first spacing along a direction are received and processed to determine output pixel values associated with output pixel positions having a second spacing along the direction, from respective combinations of input pixel values weighted by coefficients given by an interpolation function. In a downscaling operation, the second spacing is larger than the first spacing, and the weighting coefficients represent values of the interpolation function expanded spatially by an expansion factor equal to the ratio of the second spacing to the first spacing.

Scaling method and device for image signals

A method and apparatus for processing or compressing an n-dimensional digital signal by constructing a sparse representation which takes advantage of the signal geometrical regularity. The invention comprises a warped wavelet packet transform which performs a cascade of warped subband filtering along warping grids of sampling points adapted to the signal geometry. It also comprises a bandeletisation which decorrelates the warped wavelet packet coefficients to produce a sparse representation. An inverse warped wavelet packet transform and an inverse bandeletisation reconstruct a signal from its bandelet representation. The invention comprises a compression system which quantizes and codes the bandelet representation, a decompression system, a restoration system which enhances a signal by filtering its bandelet representation, and a feature vector extraction system for pattern recognition applications of a bandelet representation.
