A stroke piston for a stroke piston compressor for generating compressed air for a vehicle, such as a commercial vehicle, includes a piston body with a piston floor, a piston skirt with piston skirt walls and pin hubs for receiving a piston pin, and at least two piston rings, which can be inserted into circumferential ring grooves of the piston body. Ridges of the piston body are provided between each two ring grooves and between the piston floor and the first ring groove arranged closest to the piston floor and the ring groove arranged closest to the piston skirt facing away from the other ring groove or grooves. At least one of the ridges is recessed at least over a partial section of its ridge height, which is measured parallel to the axis of the piston body, with at least one recess relative to the diameter of the piston body.

A valve includes at least one inlet chamber and at least one outlet chamber that can be connected to each other or blocked from each other by means of an actuator. A control chamber is provided for controlling the actuator. The control chamber is divided into a first chamber and a second chamber that are connected to each other.

A compressed-air compressor for producing compressed air for a compressed-air system of a vehicle includes a cylinder and a piston. The piston is arranged in the cylinder and divides the interior space of the cylinder into a compression chamber, which can be connected to the compressed-air system of the vehicle for the purpose of conveying compressed air, and a neutral chamber. The neutral chamber is charged with an auxiliary pressure such that the pressure in the neutral chamber is temporally on average higher than atmospheric pressure. The compressed air production using the piston/cylinder-type compressed-air compressor is improved such that the maximum value of the torque to be imparted for driving the compressor is reduced.

Compressed-air compressor and method of operation

A pressure control device for a vehicle comprises an electronic control unit and a valve device for controllably connecting a compression chamber of the vehicle's air compressor to the vehicle's compressed-air supply and storage system. The pressure control device is configured to (i) connect the compression chamber to the compressed-air supply and storage system in a compressed-air production mode to convey compressed air from the compression chamber into the compressed-air supply and storage system, (ii) connect the compression chamber to the compressed-air supply and storage system in a compressed-air expansion mode to convey compressed air from the compressed-air supply and storage system into the compression chamber, and (iii) switch from the compressed-air production mode to the compressed-air expansion mode and vice-versa by electrically actuating one or more electrically operable valves of the valve device.

Pressure control device and method for a vehicle

A vehicle compressed air supply system includes a supply part with compressor, an air drying part and a consumer part including consumer circuits with brake circuits supplied with compressed air via a multi-circuit safety valve. The brake circuits, and optionally at least one other consumer circuit, include compressed air tanks. Pressure in the circuits is monitored by sensors and evaluated by an electronic control device. To determine system parameters in terms of tank size and compressor output, when filling circuits, the rate of pressure increase in a circuit is determined as a function of compressor speed, and air-drying regeneration is effected. The period of a pre-defined pressure drop or pre-defined pressure gradient is determined and air volume for completing regeneration is calculated from the magnitude of the pressure drop, regeneration time and throttle diameter. Tank volume is determined therefrom. Compressor output is calculated from tank volume and rate of pressure increase.
